pistonbroke
Thought I'd bring this to everyones attention as I'm changing mine today due to the wear. These two hoses are the one that runs from the resevoir to the cooler, the other is from the other end of the cooler to the rack. Here is the extent of the wear on my MY96. I know people will say its just the outer coating that's cracked, and it's nothing to worry about. I however don't trust it so I'm replacing them. pistonbroke
Anyone know if I can use a standard silicone hose to replace these ones?
colsoop
No ! Use proper hose designed to carry oil.
Homer
The hose has metal braid inside, they are extremely strong and even with the small cracks in the outer rubber should not leak. They are expensive to replace though Anyone know if I can use a standard silicone hose to replace these ones? God no, the PAS lines run high pressure, silicon pipe would explode! I had a cut on one of mine (through the braid), when it finally gave up it blew oil over 6 foot away (was on the driveway with the bonnet open)
