RedM
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/dorset/8096176.stm A dog walker has spoken of the horror of witnessing three youths stamp a new born deer to death in a park in Dorset. What is this country coming to?

TRACIE_LOU
That is horrendous and makes me feel sick, Why, why, why!.. And even worse is that we feel we can't say/do anything for fear of being hurt ourselves!

Dave17
You notice they always choose something that has no chance of doing any damage back. Perhaps stick them in a cage in London Zoo with a lion or something...

DSK
trouble is there is no deterrent for this behaviour is there? lets say for instance, the offenders are identified and caught, what are the police going to do???? I agree that in day and age its hard to intervene for personal safety reasons and also in addition, should you need to defend yourself, you will most likely be the one that gets prosecuted and further more put behind bars
TonyP
Bring back the death penalty. For killing an animal? Ok yeah it's pretty sick and they should be locked up for a bit but get your priorities right. It's just an animal.

They will be prosecuted according to the law. I agree that in day and age its hard to intervene for personal safety reasons and also in addition, should you need to defend yourself, you will most likely be the one that gets prosecuted and further more put behind bars Why do you believe that? Because you have read a few stories in the papers telling you so?

TonyP
You are just a human. What makes you think you're better than an innocent new-born deer? The life of an animal = the life of a child? Is that what you're saying?
SUPRASUZUKI
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/dorset/8096176.stm What is this country coming to? Nothing's changed mate, there should be no surprise (although I agree it is sickening). Humans (some...) have always been capable of immense cruelty. History is full of it. Burning witches, people being hung for stealing sheep, Adolf Hitler and the exploits of his supporters etc, etc.
Snooze
Why is stamping a fawn to death any different to (deliberately) stamping on an ant or a spider? I put down some slug pellets the other day - that's arguably causing a slower and more painful death than this!
Matt H
Sickening. Don't blame the chap for not intervening though. Quite a few stories in the news just lately about people trying to do the right thing then being turned on visciously. For example that banker who was beaten to death both those two youths for intervening in their abuse of a tramp.
