clarky666
Just wondering with the impending new of Setanta going down the pan - imminent within a few days if you believe the BBC and certain other media outlets - if anyone thinks it would be beneficial as a customer to cancel my subscription and cancel my direct debits with them ? Has anyone else done so ? Future looks bleak for them.
ellis
Oh good - I can get the PGA Tour back on Sky then!! Flatly refused to pay another £15 a month to watch Tiger spitting and chucking his clubs.

I've never had in issue in the last 6 years except getting annoyed at losing Sky1!

You're paying significantly more for content that is significantly reduced... in fact, Virgin buy their stuff from Sky anyway. Also, if you're using Virgin HD it's even funnier. For the sake of not having a UFO stuck to the side of my house I'd gladly pay it. We would have got a V+ HD box if they hadn't just put the price up to £99 for current customers. So on that point Sky definitely have the edge, Murdoch vs Branson, pick a devil

You would until you find out that the Virgin HD system is the biggest false economy ever There is a virgin HD?? Blimey all I've ever found is BBC HD and some really random stuff on HD-on-demand.... ivan
I'm paying both devils as I have Sky+ and Virgin internet. And my cable IS fibre right to my door (was installed by NTL donkeys years ago).

How much extra did you have to pay for that?! Virgin's fibre optic end user lines are only running to homes in the Bournemouth area as a trial as things stand currently. Maybe he means fibre to his house from the exchange You've reminded me to nip down the library tomorrow lunchtime to find more about that fibrecity stuff. I've got some 8Gb PCI-X HBA sat here on my desk mmmm networking. I wonder how many people have taken off the end of their cable modem and stared down the fibre? They boosted the signal on mine so much it's got a -15dbm attenuator on it. If that's Longwave fibre signal I bet that could probably burn your retina out in seconds. I'll verify when I get home. that www.fibrecity.eu website is complete pants. Doesn't give dates or feeds/speeds

Virgin tv don't change the programe, they just change the name of the channel they put it on. When its gets to the last one they let channel five have it. Our area is fibre to the house then 6' of coax from the junction box to the router. We had a problem a few years ago and I watched the NTL engineers running a new length of fibre through the ducts. (I'm an SCTE and CAI Accredited Installer from many moons ago and networked Bovington Camp with fibre and microwave technology.)
