fizzle
right guys this is getting ridiculous... spent hours yesterday taking apart, checking connections, fuses, disconnect battery etc like the other posts on this suggests but still no joy.. it will lock, but won't unlock, by fob or manually.. its quite embarrassing climbing into a nice car through the boot, i'm not small so doesn't make it very easy or graceful diving head first into back seats[sHOCK][/sHOCK] ( although secretly it makes me feel like a duke of hazzard) does anyone have any further suggestion or am i going to have to let toyota rip me off??? p.s the windows work fine! The Raven
I will only help if you film yourself outside the local supermarket getting into the car. I would guess at a fault in the wiring. Does it do it both sides with the key?
fizzle
using the key, it will only lock on the drivers side but the passenger side doesn't work at all..
Konrad
Small connector in drivers door, 3 cables going in and out, it's white and located around inside door handle area. Disconnect it and try opening/closing doors then.

fizzle
And it refuses to unlock with the key on both sides? yep
The Raven
yep Hmm, Has to be a wiring fault somewhere, have you tried pulling back the rubber between the door and the wing and taking a look, Most breaks happen in there. Failing that i would get a proper car sparky in to fix it.
tomgeer
Try your spare key, one of mine doesn't unlock the drivers door or boot.

Scott
Does the key now open the doors? I always thought the door lock was mechanical and that the key would open it regardless of the central locking condition.

I always thought the door lock was mechanical and that the key would open it regardless of the central locking condition. Thats why i asked, I always thought the key would overide the C/L and open the door
pistonbroke
Unless the motor was constantly pushing the lock closed due to an electrical fault.
Scott
Unless the motor was constantly pushing the lock closed due to an electrical fault. Yeah i could see that happening but the key would still open the door for a split second before the motor pushed it back surely? I've had it with the MR2, when it had a short, where i would open the door and the central locking would instantly close it again. I got some feedback though, so i knew it was a wiring issue and nothing mechanical. This problem is quite worrying, to me anyway. I would hate to be in an accident and not be able to get the doors open.
pistonbroke
Unless the car has deadlocks (which I think the supra doesn't), the interior handle will always override the locking system and opens the door latch mechanism. So you should always be able to open the door from the inside.
