tony tt
Hi folks i noticed this morning on start up from cold that a puff of blue smoke came out the exhaust. It cleared straight after and is clear when driving and on idle. Any ideas? I hope its nothing to worry about Thanks for any help.

Guest Budz86
Think I was quoted around £450 including the parts, but since I'm going to drop a TT lump in next year I was told not to bother and just make sure the oil was topped up as it shouldn't do any major damage

tony tt
leave it mines done it for 60000 miles Rich Can that lead to other problems though if it doesnt get done or is it a kind of a seperate issue to everything else?
Ian C
Fairly big job as the head has to come off. Part's themselves are around £100 for the kit iirc. Are you sure? Seeing as there are plenty of discussions on here on how to do with with rope or compressed air leaving the head firmly in place The £450 all in sounds more like it if you're paying someone else to do everything. About £200 if you do it yourself and have to buy the tools. -Ian
Ian C
Can that lead to other problems though if it doesnt get done or is it a kind of a seperate issue to everything else? I think Jake's had a car that has done it for 3 or 5 years or something and it's fine still. -Ian
Fifty
Can that lead to other problems though if it doesnt get done or is it a kind of a seperate issue to everything else? technically I dont know - what I do know is for me it has been a minor issue so far, car has done 116000 miles and pulls like a train no smoke at any other time and only uses smidge of all Rich

I did contemplate doing this myself but think it might be over my head! (no pun intended) Didn't really want to get halfway through and then c0ck it up! Well yeah but don't drop anything into the oil then I mean, you don't take the head off to change the spark plugs do you, and that's a much bigger hole
