Supraman
4 wires coming from TPS: 1. Negative 2. 12V Positive 3. Wire going to ECU 4. Don't know what this does Two questions 1. What should the reading be off the yellow wire going to ECU from TPS (volts or resistance)...I'm getting no reading from this when changing the throttle position 2. What is the 4th wire (last wire next to yellow one) coming from TPS and where does it go? Would really appreciate a quick response. Thanks in advance for help. matthewm1965
I have never worked on the Supra TPS, but on the TPS on my Rover, the signal wire is a variable voltage, varying with throttle angle. I dont think it is the full voltage range, something like 0 to 5V IIRC. The 4th wire is an on/off signal to indicate when the throttle is in the closed position. Hermit
Same on the Sup... when the throttle's closed, the 4th wire is grounded (if it's adjusted correctly...).
Ian C
The last wire (red?) is the throttle switch. As mentioned already, it lets the ECU know that the throttle is closed, which it uses for idle and overrun strategies (e.g. cutting the injectors). The yellow wire is the throttle angle, and it's a 0-5v signal although the range is usually about 0.6v to 4.5v. -Ian

What do you mean "...adjusted correctly..."? and where is it grounded? Cheers

Hermit
What do you mean "...adjusted correctly..."? and where is it grounded? Cheers There's a switch inside the TPS which closes when the thrrottle closes, connecting '4' to '1' (using your numbering). '4' goes to the ECU, as 'IDL' I think. The TPS adjustment is done by rotating the TPS so that the switch closes at the right time. It's not something that usually goes out of adjustment by itself - more likely to happen if someone removes and refits it without adjusting it, because refitting it in what looks like the exact same position is unlikely to get it right. It's a fiddly job!

Supraman
Pulling my hair out here. Getting the following error codes intermittently: 31 - Intake air pressure sensor/vacuum sensor signal abnormal 41 - Throttle position sensor abnormal 47 - Throttle position (TP) sensor 2 - short/open circuit I'm confused as I haven't tapped into these fitting the emanage though have fitted 3 bar sensor and harness. Any ideas guys?
