Hello people

Can anyone help on a Side Mounted Intercooler issue, I really need to replace my SMIC but cant really afford the FMIC option. I have a 1998 TT vvti J-spec and was interested in getting a uprated Greddy SMIC, does anyone have the prices for a new one and in comparison, does anyone know the prices of a standard OEM replacement.

Thankyou people.

I think a standard OEM replacement is in the £800-£900 region. A Greddy SMIC is about £650ish - or you can look for a half decent second hand OEM one which you should be able to pick up for £50 ish plus p&p (I have one sitting in my garage by the way :Plug: ) or if you get in line I will be selling my Miami GT SMIC when I get it off the car for £150 plus postage (but I do have 2 people I promised first and second refusal too)

I remember Nic was doing a group buy on GReddy side mounts, I think the price for the stock replacement was roughly the same price as it at ~£650, I paid about that for my Chris Wilson one. You can pick up FMIC's for a fair bit cheaper than that obviously depending on the spec & name. Whifbitz are about to reveal their own FMIC and SMIC soon so that's worth looking at.

Thanks for the replies so far but I'm still getting mixed info. Has anyone brought a SMIC from Toyota and if so, how much? Obviously It will be more expensive than a replacement OEM from a different company but I really think this is my only option. I dont think a FMIC will be for me as the hastle and cost of getting one out ways the BHP I'm looking at taking her up too. BPU for the time being. Anymore advice, prices and contacts would be greatly recieved. Cheers again

Call Steve Manley in my sig for a Toyota price ;)

All the other info you need has already been provided above.

EDIT: why is the potentially more expensive toyota replacement your only option compared to cheaper aftermarket units?

Some of the non-toyota SMICs are much better value for money and also more efficient in cooling air (or so they claim).

If your original toyota SMIC is goosed then definitely consider some of the other aftermarket SMIC options.

Some are 20-30% deeper than the stock toyota SMICs and can be a tight fit, just something to bare in mind.

Again its all price's that I need. Everyone has an opinion on which one to fit and after speaking to a few people I know I've been told that Whifbitz or Greddy is the way forward and they are apparently quite a straight forward fit aswell. So like I say, price's and best contacts for the Greddy one's please. Thanks lads.

I private messaged you Nic but got no reply. Could anyone else send me some confirmed prices for the OEM SMIC and any uprated SMIC. Thanks, I didnt think this would be such a hard topic to get accurate answers on. Also they are incredibly hard to find on any of the webites of the tuning companys/parts stockists. More help needed I'm afraid. Thanks
