gt4tosupra
Ok, the stereo has been cutting out lately, every now and then it just goes off, (4 times on way home from work today) but always comes back on straight away. Only thing is though i dont think its the stereo, as today i noticed that the ABS light came ON at the same time the stereo cut OFF! The other night i also think i noticed that the headlights flickered off then back on at the same time as the stereo thing, but cant be sure on that one as another car was approaching behind me, so could have been his lights! I know that the ABS module is on top of the stereo, are they linked to a common relay or fuse or something?

gt4tosupra
cheers, will do, but wouldnt this cut the ignition out and therefore stop the engine?
Guest Tayousei
It might, but not necessarily, as I experienced the same thing. My stereo would cut out from time to time, and only once did my engine stall at the same time. Perhaps since the engine would only stop if ignition is out during the moment a spark plug or two fire... Whereas a stereo needs constant power to stay on so any "blip" in the electrical would turn it off for a split second and have it reset. Anyhow, I simply took off the battery connector and cleaned off the posts (there was a little corrosion) and the problem hasn't been back since. Cheers. I cleaned the battery terminals a few weeks ago tho, when i had a funny issue with the car not starting, not even turning over! just making some kind of electrical clicking somewhere! Do u think that the two are linked? Also, the stereo did the cutting out thing again today, and i noticed that the indicators werent effected! They carried on working!!
