supraspeed
Looking at a vvti tt tiptronic and wondered if the gearbox is the same as an auto with button shifts? also is going bpu the same as a non vvti supes or is there something more/less to do? nick_karkie
Yes the gearbox is the same, you have L,2, and D, but you can slide it across just next to D into M mode, then use the buttons on the front and back of the steering wheel. So you can drive 3 ways, leave it in D, go through the gears from L to D using the auto stick or leave it in M and change the paddles. You can switch between M and D whenever you want during driving. Ewen
Also, Tiptronics don't have overdrive. The Tiptonic gate / gearstick gate is neater, with a simpler more attractive gear knob. VVTis have a lightly higher rev limit too, with allegedly another 20/25 bhp over non VVTi's. When I went BPU, I was advised by those I trust that going BPU on a VVTi was the same deal as non VVTi's. The only difference I can think of is that you need a VVTi-specific de-cat pipe. I got mine from Chris Wilson, they're absolute works of art. Obviously, you'll also need to check the wiring on the BCC you use as it'll probably have a pin-out diagram for the non-VVTi.
kslb
vvti models are easy enough to bpu and then single if you want but I would go for the manual if poss as it makes it easier if going big power in the future.
