andygood
Hi folks, hope ye're all out enjoying a nice cruise in the good weather... I did a compression test today with the results below. Engine is n/a with 120000 miles. What the frak is going on with #6? It kept giving the same result, time and again. Cyl Dry Wet #1 210 180 #2 170 215 #3 160 195 #4 170 190 #5 185 180 #6 250 250 I haven't sourced the kit to do a leakdown yet. Is it worth pursuing, seeing as there's a 20% diff between 1 & 2 and a 25% diff between 5 & 6? Also, 10% - 20% diff between wet & dry on 1 - 4. I'm not using the car for now, but it starts & drives fine. It uses up a good bit of coolant and I'm getting plenty of grey goo in the oil filler cap and dipstick. Also a bit of fizzing from the rad cap when warmed up, but no noticable clouds from the exhaust, although it's a bit of a scorcher here today... Cheers, Andy. Lee P
High numbers can be caused by carbon build up or fiuid in the cylinders. The other readings dont look to bad. Different figures betweem your wet and dry test would indicate worn piston rings. Edited June 1, 2009 by Lee P (see edit history)

Tricky-Ricky
The only odd thing is that the readings on 1 and 5 dropped for wet test?
andygood
The only odd thing is that the readings on 1 and 5 dropped for wet test? Yeah, I was wondering about that! The battery was good and I did each cylinder two or three times, with no more than about 5 Psi variation, so I'm pretty sure the numbers are good...
