geoff meade
You found google, well done. You missed an important fact though, its not been 24 years since Celtic and Rangers were split. Of course, that was never the point was it. The old firm are clearly leagues ahead of the other teams, thats the reason for the proposed move into the English leagues. The SPL will always be in turmoil while 2 clubs have the upperhand. However, I think the point was that its getting harder and harder to come top of the league nowadays. 10 years ago it really was only a 2 horse race and none came close. The last few years has been hard times for both halves of the old firm, cash strapped, and therefor the other teams DO have a chance. They usually fall away after the halfway mark. ok you must of been out on the pop tonight you just said its getting harder and harder to come top of the league ???? i just goggled it yes m8 so close only over 20pts behind was the 3rd team. i don't mean to put your team down i am just stating facts , you have 2 good teams but just not that good that's all . As i said, they usually fall away around the halfway mark. Until the last few months there were 2 or 3 teams as well as the old firm. You started off pissy bud, thats the only fact on show here. The rest you googled. Is it a fact that Rangers and Celtic are only as good as the Championship division? I'm afraid google won't have that answer for you bud, watching the football is the only way to determin that one and from an avid football watcher thats clearly a lot of crap. The old firm would fit snuggly in the middle of the premiership IMO. I don't even think it would take too many years of raking in the premiership cash to build up a team capable of competing. I hope it happens, i doubt it will but it would be nice. As i said, starting off in the championship to prove their worth. Is your side in europe? Might have a meeting there with one of the sides, at least then one of us would be put in our place.

Why bother, its only crap teams that play in those leagues. Wouldn't even waste my time. In all seriousness, i was in court that day lol. 98 in a 70, tut tut. Was offered a ticket to the game too

RiceRocket
Rangers and Celtic would only be a top 10 side in the Premier League IMHO but with a few years of the massive tv money they'd get I'd fancy them to break into the top 4.
TLicense
I've no doubt that they would both be good premiership teams, but it'll be a travesty for every team in the league and conference below them if they came in and didn't have to start at the bottom and work their way up. Have any English teams had a free pass? I don't know? The only team I can think of that have done anything like that was MK Dons, but I think they legally retained the position that Wimbledon had or something like that? I just can't see it ever happening as there's no way they would want to start playing conference teams, but if they did mighty Oxford would be waiting for them

I honestly don't know what would happen if it were ever to come about. Its a tough situation to be in but the old firm need something to be done, as do the rest of the SPL. The SPL would be far more entertaining without the old firm.

I don't think there are 10 sides in the premiership that could beat the old firm day in day out. 5, definitely. Its a funny old game though, it just never works out that way. Celtic are nowhere near as good as Man U yet they managed to tame them in their european runs. Obviously it also works vice versa. I think the biggest hassle for the English sides is they struggle to deal with the scottish way of playing footy. I dare say if the old firm went down south they would change their style of play. If that happened, god knows where we would end up.

clarky666
Dismissing the OF as being championship level at best if pretty ill judged and misinformed to be honest. I don't support either of them and don't care for them much at all but if, hypothetically, they were thrown in straight away to the Premiership for next season i'd imagine they would finish pretty comfortably in mid table with Celtic having a stronger squad than Rangers (christ knows how they blew the league but thats a different story)maybe expect them to finish a little higher. Granted neither team is as strong as they were a few years ago when Celtic put out Liverpool and Blackburn quite comfortably on the way to the UEFA cup final and Rangers doing likewise last season in reaching the final albeit they didn't play any English teams on the way. Both teams have also had favourable home records in the Champions League against teams with a lot more quality than the likes of Stoke, Sunderland, Bolton and the likes. Few years down the line when the money(s) started to filter in and the crowd sizes they attract they'd be pushing on up the leagues.
