suprasam
Phoned a few people about some Supras for sale and having a chat with them i am thinking i will want to have a service done when purchased. So will Toyota dealers touch Supras and is it worth the hassle having young YTS trainees pouring over such a car?? What sort of cost is involved in having a service done and a belt change?? I have read that a belt change in a Sup is not a tricky procedure so guessing not going to be too costly??!!??! I Hope......... Suprasam P.S Sorry for all the questions but getting very excited about the prospect of buying one and posting as i think!!!!!
Bobbeh
They'll touch UK specs.. and some will do imports but probably will inflate prices and make excuses. £140 for a minor service. Not had a major one.. got one coming up soon tho.. cant wait
Steve
Got a price from Toyota to do a cambelt change and they wanted £230. Dont know if that is reasonable or not??? Sure someone else will tell you soon!!!
Scoboblio
I heard somewhere (probably on here), tha all Toyota garages will now service imports... could be BS though, and as you said, certainly doesn't guarentee knowledge.
heckler
My local dealer will service imports... at £68 + Vat an hour! so went to a independant garage (who do skylines etc...) charged £170 for a service, all oils/filters etc...
suprasam
Sounds like a local specialist maybe in order i do know of a top Jap TUner 2 mins from my house (shameless plug!!!!!) called Performance Engineering who really know there stuff. If you live near Weston - S - Mare give them a call well worth it!!!!! 01934 822262 - all servicing and tuning of Jap Cars plus rolling road and in house exhausts. Also check out their site at http://www.performance-engineering.co.uk. Anyway i dodn't know whether having it serviced by Toyota carried any weight when selling?? But if there gonna be costly then it aint worth it - doesn't sound too bad generally though. Suprasam
Bobbeh
It is only when you have a UK spec with a decent service history.

green_dragon
Suprasam, Toyota quoted me £400 for a full service, £450 including plug change - and thats with me supplying the plugs, coil pack plugs and cam breather hoses WTF?? In the end I got a regular garage to do the job, £80 plus parts, which I got from Envy, Chris Wilson and Oilman, all on this board. Still cost me over 300 quid in total, as all the parts were slightly uprated. Chris

Digsy
You can find some service costs information in these threads. It's been done to death. http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=378 http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=3909 http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=28028 What continually causes confusion is the way people describe the services. If you go to Toyota asking for a "full service" then you are asking for trouble. You sould ALWAYS refer to services according to mileage. This will generate a fixed scope of work, parts list and (if the dealer is worth their salt) a relatively fixed price for the job. Toyota quoted me £400 for a full service, £450 including plug change - and thats with me supplying the plugs, coil pack plugs and cam breather hoses WTF??In my experience, a service costing £400 would be a "B" with pretty much all the fluid changes. I do not know if that usually includes spark plugs too but I'm guessing it would. As fort the other items, coil pack and cam breatehr hoses are not usually changed so you shouldn't expect any money off for supplying those parts yourself. I think you were ripped off for £50 extra labour for the plug change, though. As I always say with servicing, fore warned is fore armed! PS. If you have platinum tipped plugs then they do not need to be changed according to the regular service schedule, so Toyota should knock off the price of new plugs from whatever their system generates.
