Marco79 Posted May 26, 2009 Share Posted May 26, 2009 After putting my dash back my odometer stopped working (still reads but doesn't count) and got a code 42 pop up, I've had it all apart again but can't see any broken or unconnected wires, it's already converted to miles, is it likely my odometer has just packed up? When it does, it causes a code 42 error. Unless you want to change your speed converter to a Thor one, your best bet is probably to get another odo and have its counter set to the mileage of your car. Maybe try keron on here for the odo unit? (I should get commission, the number of times I recommend him ). Not sure where to get the mileage set, try searching on here. Someone's bound to have discussed it in the past. Or ask a few traders: if they don't know themselves, I bet they know someone who does. This is "normal" for a code 42. Something in the ECU's logic causes a code 42 to only be generated when you're travelling at at least 60-ish mph.
