Guess the car time.... (again)

A female friend has tasked me with finding out what a car she likes is based on this....

******************************

So the other day I was on the M1 and I saw a car that I really want

but I don't know what it is. And to make it worse I couldn't get to see

the badge to even suss what make it was. I've asked around here and

no-one has yet found it - internet assisted.

So, think MX5 for a man. Very similar shape to an MX5 but bigger and

lower at the front. Just more mean and serious looking. But still

smallish. It also had some of those holes in the side - which I never

know what they are - I think your MR2 had them. It had a spoiler on the

back - but not one to rival yours. I know I'm not telling you much here

- but you might know

*************************************

She's checked the current range of TVRs and ruled those out - any ideas?

(She drives an S2000 GT at the moment so she's not really into cars)

I was thinking it might be an MG TF but I would have expected her to know about those....

A couple of replies from her so far:

"Not an MG TF - it was much more sleeker. More low profile. More sporter

looking in an inderstated way"

and...

"Much plainer than an elise or exige. Think more along the lines of an

MX5 - but slightly bigger and lower and the front"

Another update....

"Didn't have a soft top (unless I was so busy trying to see the

badge that I didn't notice if it was a detachable hard top ).

The colour was either black or very very very dark green.

Less rounded than a spyker - and much less fancy

And you couldn't see the grill hardly at the front - in fact I don't

remember seeing one at all - but that can't be right can it?

The front end seemed low.

The only 'tarting' was a spoiler' It didn't look to have any

additions to bodywork, lights, wheels/tyres, etc. All quite plain.

It was just the style of it that I liked.

Also, it didn't look like a brand new car - I don't mean it looked

battered - it just didn't have the shape/look of a new car. Personal

plates - so no clues there"

How does that work?

After Ebay updated its facilities for selling cars, by adding all the details as per the DVLA registration, I thought it would be useful. You need to be registered with Ebay. All you have to do is go in to the sell section, and follow the instructions (as if you were going to sell a vehicle). When you get past Automotive / Cars stage, choose to sell using pre-filled information. You have to choose a make and model, but I have tested it and you can put in anything (e.g. I put in Lancia, but when it asks for the registration I used the registration of a Supra) - as soon as you put the registration in, it comes up with a whole page of the details that the DVLA already has, including personal registration numbers. It works with any legitimately registered car.

Strictly for those who like to waste time on the net!
