Skegness - poo name, good place?

I am looking at booking a cheap family holiday in August. As always the prices are sky high for anything but I have found something that looks good in Skegness.

Anybody been there for a family holiday? Is it like Blackpool but without the scousers (calm down, its a joke) or is it actually a really nice family resort which could do with a rename?

Anything else nice in the area to go and see?

Im a south coast kind of person, so its my first family holiday up north that isnt in the Lakes or Scotland.

thanks

JB

You have done well there :)

its all based around price. Anywhere looks good if its not costing me £1000 for 7 days in a caravan.

£400 is more my budget which sadly in august usually gets me a 2 day break in Southampton and a trip to London.

You want to look up robinhood campsite in chapel-saint-leonards they have a very good club on site with some good acts on stage and a big play area for the kids I loved it when I was a young padaone :) it's one of the beat areas to be in aswell.

We stayed at the butlins last year. We had a really good time there, there's plenty to do with the kids.

We would certainly go back.

Just come back from Yarmouth yesterday, So skegy or blackpool next year.
