The Raven
Did anyone see it? wasnt showed around here but i ordered it from Play on blu ray. I have read all his books, but the movie got a lot of mixed reaction from awesome to awful.
Matt H
I thought the movie was good.. Bizarre, but good. The guy should never have been let out of the loney bin. Total wacko, he's not a simple criminal. Wonder how much of the facts have been sexed up
Guest Ben218
I have read the books and seen the movie and the movie doesnt do any of the books justice. They throw a few facts in there but miss out a lot of key things thats happened in his life. I would watch it and give your own opinion but I think the film was more for people who havent read the books and wanted to know something about him. The Raven
Was he put over fair? or a total nut ball killer? It still makes me sick to hear people claim hes a loony killer.
Scott
Watching this just now, only been on 10 mins and i'm hooked already. What an intro lol.

The prison system has done that to him after countless beatings from gaurds. I dont think hes a killer i think its a shame the way hes turned out as a result of being treated badly inside he was banged up for robbery in the first place not murder. The guy has a temper alright and thats why hes been kept in so long. When you see his drawings or read his poetry hes a mixed up guy no doubt about it but hes a direct result of the prison system and how it affects people in solitery for so long. imo

The Raven
Interesting take on it.. I'm not sure, i think the guy was a screw loose from day one though. No doubt he was slighty mad, however read roy shaws book and tell me the difference? Being held with mad people made him worse no question. jamesmark
It will more than likely be a bit like the film 'The Krays'. I loved the Kray's film, then I read a few books about them and the film is just a load of rubbish in regards to events (no surprises there). Never read any of Bronson's books so only have the film and what I have read on the net about him to go by.
jamesmark
Watched this a few days ago. It is a bit fcuked up to say the least. Tom Hardy was excellent.

Carl_S
I have not read the books or seen the film, but I can say that bronson is an excellent name for a movie. Is sounds slightly cheesy and therefore humous, but also tough, and hot, like a bunson burner at school.
Gaz6002
Excellent movie. I watched it a few nights ago and enjoyed it. It's probably not for the cringers, but if you're one of them I'm got a better film for you: 'Mum and Dad'. It's a British horror and is quite sufficiently twisted to get most people squirming. The Raven
Having brought this and read nearly all his books, i can say. What a load of crap! He never wanted to be in jail! he dont want to stay in jail! The whole story was very very lose How he ever gave the ok to put him over as a total nut job who would bash people for no reason is behond me. His chances of ever getting out just went down. The film its self was not bad for what it was, have to laugh at bits.

Then I read several books on the Kray twins and the film is the biggest load of bullsh!t.
bigcol
After being a prison officer for 8 years in the 90's if you want to know what he is like i can give you a better idea than the film, his real name is michael peterson, he was first convicted of armed robbery but thinking he was better than everyone else (and being as nutty as squirrel shit) he changed it by deed poll to charles bronson after his hero, the reason he has been in solitary for 20 years is he is too dangerous to put in general population as basically he is an animal, as for beating by prison staff mmm debatable to be honest, he used to have to have a minimum 5 man escort wherever he went in the prison and admittedly he needed it, one of the reasons for this was whilst in pentonville he completely took off his cell door using nothing but his hands and head!!!!!!! some of the crazy shit he did though was totally mad for example kidnapping the prison governor and a female member of the board of prison visitors, his demands were a helicopter to Cuba and 5 million pound, after 2 days he settled for a cup of tea and a digestive (total fookin nutroast) when he was taken to court he said they had come in of their own free will and refused to leave claiming squatters rights, unfortuantely the jury declined to beleive him and he got more time, basically he came to jail with an 8 year sentence and that was over 20 years ago, and to be honest he is too dangerous to ever walk the streets and after what he did to some of the prison staff i have worked with he can fookin rot in there and live the rest of his fooked up life in solitary cos he is nothing but a bully and waste of a life. as for the film thats about as beleivable as harry potter

However the bronson name was given to him by his boxing promoter, he has stated he never liked the actor. So even now at his age he is more a risk to the public than these pedo child killers that have been let out? The system made Bronson to some degree. As i said before Roy Shaw was just as bad if not worse than Bronson and they let him out. Id like to add that when they did release him it was straight from CAT A. Scary thought that. They need to make thier minds up, if he is insane then he shouldnt be where he is, if he isnt then 30+ years has to be enough. He claims to have not been in trouble for the past 4 years? IMO he should be allowed to mix with others, however if he reverts to his old ways then he and his supporters would have to accept the fact he is Insane and that broadmore is a better place for him. MRX
Looks interesting, will watch it tomorrow I don't know anything about him apart from what I've just seen in the movie, but the guy comes across as a complete fruit loop and a scary one at that. Gaz6002
You're both talking about things that are actually portrayed in the film One other point to consider: although he gave the go-ahead for the movie he will never ever get to watch it. Make of that what you will.

Make of that what you will. He is not dumb, he would have read the script. In his last book he mentioned how happy he was about the fact the movie would help him. The other thing that bugged me......He wants to be famous? No he was a robber, then a nut, then mellowed. The guy is locked up with the likes of huntly and the other kiddy killers. Is it any wonder he is lible to smack them around given half the chance? Clearly his past has made him a CAT A worse of the worst. However if we live in a country that promotes a fair justice system then he should be free, and or atleast be given the chance to prove he isnt an animal anymore Would you not take a swing? Agreed he would have read the script... it was inspired by his notes and books, after all. The film is what will generate widespread interest in him though, and that's what he's not allowed to see. A shame, if he will indeed remain locked up for ever.

The real shame is people that dont take the time to read his books will take what they see as real. If i had watched that, then been asked if he should be allowed out i would have said HELL NO! the film made him out to be a total nut case who would kill-fight-smash up anything at anytime. Sad fact is he is now in his 50s even if they did let him out the world has changed so much in 20 years i fear he would reoffened due to being "in another world"
