At last .....Supe now on the road...albeit with electrical probs....my first ever drive of a mkiv.....running in ATM so being careful....but still quite lively off boost......are the JIC suspension supposed to be quite hard.....and it seems the pillowball mounts are a little rattly on uneven road....I dont know if this is normal for this setup......

JIC may have adjustable rebound settings, some are bloody stiff even on their softest. What spring rates is it on? 99% of the Jap aftermarket stuff is total junk, to be honest, which is why Jap race cars run European made dampers, whatever the stickers may suggest :) You may end up binning it and getting stock or decent aftermarket stuff to get a good ride combined with the ability to put the power down and not fall over round corners. Suspension and set up is my speciality, but my stuff sn't particularly cheap. Nor is it dear comapered to proper high end stuff ;)

Actually Chris the hardness or rattles dont bother me...just wanted to know if its normal... it felt great on the couple of roundabouts..after spending loads on poly bushes, bilsteins ,springs the mkiii never felt this good and this is just me bolting them on.....no adjustments....when its all run-in I'll be able to guage whether it suits me or not...I'd prefer it to be at its best when 'going for it' ....

I am really confused here - still - after talking to everyone...

Terry S likes the jics - and knows his stuff

Paul Whiffen and Dusty love the hks and know there stuff

Chris W - doesn't rate either and knows his stuff

And I really don't know which way to go :(

All in my own opinion: HKS dampers are rubbish. JIC are better. I sell HKS stuff, but still maintain their air filters and dampers are utter junk....

I don't sell JIC, it seems better than some stuff.

I do sell re valved Bilstein and Koni shoks, as well as stock ones. their reputation speaks for itself. F1 down use Koni and Bilstein. Name any high end race cars series that use HKS or JIC dampers... Tein WERE unspeakably bad, apparently they have improved recently. The pundits say TVR have too. Time will tell ;)

HKS do not make their own dampers. Apparently due to issues with suppliers they are looking for another source. How true that is i dont know, it was claimed by my HKS suppliers to be something HKS Europe told them.

I still maintain Europe, an the netherlands in particular, have a hold on decent damper manufacture.

I think you will find most people rate the JIC's, even the normally valved ones, above Hipermax 1 & 2. I know Dusty loves the new HKS Performa (?). Apart from that I cant say. Some who buy JIC's in vanilla flavour will hate them due to the valving. Dude is the only person I know who has driven both vanilla & vortex JIC's so hopefully he will chip in at some point.

I cant comment on CW's stuff as I have never tried it.

I can indeed confirm that the non Vortex valved shocks are in my opinion allmost undriveable on the road , if i had paid all that money for them i would indeed be mortified , on the other hand having been tasked with the duty of putting miles on Terrys throbing monster to run it in i can confirm that it was a dream to drive , far better than my Teins , not at all uncomfortable and the handling was something else , in fact the faster you go the better it handled , prob the best handling RWD car ive ever driven , note it had uprated roll bars as well .

Dude

You guys in the UK are lucky to have a Supra guy with a shockdyno and alot of experience with Supra suspension. I know most of you probably aren't even looking for the fastest setup or more track oriented setup but consider yourselves lucky to have CW at your disposal.
