Lee P
I have heard of the problem in the US but not seen it here. I got myself one of the boostlogic billet ones when I built my car just in case. Thought it may have been a waste of money but seeing that I dont think it was. dr_jekyll
have you damaged any other engine in ternals ? is it true that the 2jzs have valve clearance when the timing fails
Homer
have you damaged any other engine in ternals ? is it true that the 2jzs have valve clearance when the timing fails The 2JZ GTE is a non-interference engine so there are no issues unless VERY high lift cams are fitted (above 272)

Whitesupraboy2
Mine snapped on my old supra, smashed into bonnet hit and damaged 2 pulleys on way down and smashing crank pulley. I got lucky the tracks on the 2 pulleys could be straightened!
Digsy
That's incredible. I'm surprised there isn't a belt tensioner change interval specified, or at least an inspection. Thankfully I just had mine changed this weekend after 150,000 miles

Digsy
In that case soemthing is very obviously wrong. Just thinking aloud, is there any link between people running wild cams and these things failing? In OEM world these tensioners are carefully tuned to the loads and in the timing drive, which is largely down to the cam profiles.
