Chris Wilson
Just seen this Ebay ad, how do you, and how much does it cost, to add HGV data to a "normal" Tom Tom, and do all models accept this data? ta! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/TOMTOM-GO-730-HGV-LCV-FOR-THE-TRUCK-LORRY-DRIVER_W0QQitemZ360154662965QQcmdZViewItemQQssPageNameZRSS:B:SRCH:GB:
MrRalphMan
Chris, I don't think you can do this, you need the 'HGV' version of the TT unit. I am trying to confirm that though. Cheers, Paul.
Tricky-Ricky
Take a look here Chris, get most of my maps and tweaks from here;) http://www.ipmart-forum.com/forumdisplay.php?f=

In the meantime I'll have a more thorough scout about in there, cheers

Konrad
Contact TrickTT (Rich). He is proper truck driver and will know how to put this stuff onto tomtom.
MrRalphMan
Chris, Have a look here for POI's for your existing TT. Not sure if it's going to be as good, but I'm 98% sure that the HGV maps need to be paired with the HGV version of TT. What version of TT are you running now? Cheers, Paul. Chris Wilson
Thanks for the link, downloading now. I haven't actually bought a sat nav yet, so that's not a problem. There seem very few used HGV ready systems around though.
MrRalphMan
Do you have a PDA you could use for now to try out TT and these POI's?
Chris Wilson
No, never had a PDA, I know, I live in the dark ages in some respects Can Tom Tom software run on a laptop?
MrRalphMan
There is no version of TT for the PC, some people have tried to run it on a PDA emulator, but I think it's going to be too much effort to get it all up and running. Have a look here for some more details. If it works like the Speed Camera POI, and it will, then it will be good as a warning, but will not auto route or warn you when you plan the journey. Just make sure you set the warning lenght ahead to be far enough. You don't want it to say 'BEEP - Warning low bridge ah... '
Pete
Can Tom Tom software run on a laptop? PITA. We used to run a PDA hacked version - I spent more time getting the damn thing to work than using it. Eventually bought one of those 50 quid Navigos and put the tom tom software on it. Still plays up though sometimes.
