gannon888
right where do i start ive had my tt for 6 months after having an N/A for 3 years and for ages i thought it was running a bit flat. i finally decided to go BPU (cheers whiffbitz) and took it to JPS motorsports. once aqll of it was fitted i was soooo excited to take my car for a spin only to find out that my second turbo wasnt working lol (been like it since i bought the car) so i took it back to the garage the following week and OMG what a difference it literally doubled in power (feel free to take the p*ss). All was well for a week, then i started hearing a nasty grinding sound from my back wheels, my first thought was that the wheel bearing had broken, and me being me i left it for a few days while still driving around like a mad head. the grinding eventually got too bad that i had to jack it up and see for sure that the wheel bearing had packed in so i could get it back into the garage, only to find out that the grinding had been caused by the wheels hanging off and only being held by about 2 threads on each nut...........i felt physically sick when i found out. (my mate had forgot to torque up the bolts when he changed my springs (ive since gone mad at him)) sorry about the long thread, just thought id share it with you. P.S. as i said earlier feel free to make fun of me cos im sooo embarassed that im so much of a noob after having a supra for 4 years! Rob
This is why I advocate working on your car yourself as much as is possible. No-one really gives a feck about your own life as much you do.

Ian W
That's a classic. Severe embarassment will ensue. He's lucky severe injury or death didn't ensue with his wheels hanging off
Gaz6002
He's lucky severe injury or death didn't ensue with his wheels hanging off Appreciated, but all's well that ends well... he's learnt 2 valuable lessons: always check wheel nuts and always drive a few TTs before buying one. FWIW I am amused by the turbo situation, not the twat friend almost killing him.
gannon888
hmmm just thought, dont be too harsh with the p*ss taking, i wasnt sure wether to post this cos i know ill be a lamb to the slaughter on this site lol

gannon888
He's lucky severe injury or death didn't ensue with his wheels hanging off too right, the thing is im from an engineering background (not cars btw) and i know i should have checked the nuts were torqued myself, im just so relieved nothing did happen due to severe ignorance
gannon888
ooh another thing..............what would be the correct torque setting for 18" wolfrace alloys? i got told 107Nm by a garage but that doesnt seem nearly tight enough so i put them to 110Nm
Ian W
i put them to 110Nm 110Nm is too high I think mate. Pretty sure the standard torque setting is 103Nm.
dangerous brain
Are you fishing for a flaming? You are going the right way about it lol. An engineer that keeps going despite the feeling the car isn't performing and then even more keeps going when he thinks the wheel bearing is shot to the point its deafening is a rather daft engineer. Remind me again not to pop into your shop for work.
The Raven
While i will laugh at your unhappyness at the lack of speed from your tiny single i wont at your near fatal mistake with the wheels. Lucky boy.
Matt H
Lucky there, could have been worse. But funny about not reaslising there was a problem with the second turbo!!
BillyC
When BPUing the car surely the garage should have noticed that the second turbo wasnt coming on line? Decats, FCD, plugs and sparks as minimum should surely involve knowing exactly what boost the turbos putting out afterwards.
Missile
Least it saved you doing a wheel bearing...
