ClaireRZ-S
Right folks sorry for another thread on this but i've been looking through loads and i'm a bit confused. I assume for my J-spec i need 9005 both for hi and low beam and for the fogs should i just change the bulb? I was thinking of buying off ebay as i don't have a lot of cash to spend on these. Can anyone recommend where to buy or has anyone bought them off ebay before and still work ok today. Thanks guys.
jamesmark
I would just change Hi and fogs to new bulbs i.e. 100w instead of 55w that is no doubt in at the mo. Hi beam HID's to me are useless as you can't really flash your lights due to the warm up time. I have bought a few kits off ebay avg £60-£70 and never had an issue with them. What type of temp you looking at getting?
Geo
I just bought mine from Kight Racer, installed and working like a dream. £100 delivered. mine was 9006 though as i bought UK glass headlights too. can now see where im going in the dark. bigbloodyturbo
Got mine off ebay just before xmas for £40 delivered from HK and they're still working fine in my uk glass headlights.
Scott
I would recommend getting the slim line ballasts. Don't bother with fogs and hi beam, as already mentioned, they are utterly pointless. For the fogs i would recommend LED's and for the hi-beam just get the 100w bulbs mentioned. Go for 4-6k for the temp. Anything higher is too blue IMO, unless thats the look you are after
Duffman
Got mine off ebay just before xmas for £40 delivered from HK and they're still working fine in my uk glass headlights. I bought these one's too ffom Hong Kong...don't be put off by the cheap price they are very good. As for the fogs I just went fogs and full beam I chnages the bulbs. Bought some high powered 9 LED lights for the sidelights...do a search and you'll find the links
ClaireRZ-S
is the ebay user called HK? Do i need anything else when i am buying these or will they just fit right in? Yeah the low beam are really bad at night on their own and usually have to put fogs to see anything.
R Black
Yup agree with the above, hi powered leds for side lights, 4k seem to be the most popular and the brightest, 6k if you like a hint of blue, still very bright, and they will need adjusting once fitted so as not to blind everyone, if being used as main headlights. Got mine from knightriderg great upgrade. Edited May 14, 2009 by R Black (see edit history)

Yes that is fine, just remember to order correct fitments for each. For the HID kit 4300k is the brightest, 6000k is still bright however a tint of blue. 8000k is blue and a bit chav and not as bright as the others. Personally go for a kit and seller that does either 4300k or 6000k so you can buy what you want. The fog light link seems a bit pricey. While you are at it buy some LED sidelights, these are good and I have used this seller and no complaints, takes about 7 days delivery. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2pcs-501-W5W-Wide-Angle-4-LED-White-Dash-Wedge-Bulbs_W0QQitemZ200339679286QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item200339679286&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1689%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318%7C301%3A1%7C293%3A1%7C294%3A50
cashpoint
Don't bother with the normal lights that are just tinted blue . Get proper HID's the difference is worth the price, only proble is deciding where to hid the balister pack

I wouldn't recommend those bulbs for the fogs, they will look seriously out of place with the HID's. Regardless of what they say they will still be yellow, mine are I'm going to go for the LED fogs. They don't really do the job of fog lights anymore but hopefully the HID's will help for that one

jevansio
I've just bought the 100W full beam bulbs, LED fogs & LED sides. Can I use these in the dip beam instead of getting a HID kit? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2-X-White-SMD-105-LED-HB3-Car-Fog-Bulbs-Light-12V-New_W0QQitemZ270447781774QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item3ef7f1a78e&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14 I'm not bothered about getting a HID kit as I just want white lights and don't want the extra bulk/hassle of a balast. These should be a 2 min job?
Frank Bullitt
I've been looking at buying a full set of HID's to fit my UK lights but if Im being honest am more confused now than ever after reading this thread and the associated links. What are the pros & cons of using a full HID set up?
nevins
second that and is it ok to fit HID's in j-spec lights or is it going to cause problems with the plastic lense's

What are the pros & cons of using a full HID set up? The pros are probably you can get different coulor temps (white to blue), at a guess they're probably brighter. Cons for me are they are just extra complication & weight. HIDs will be fine in jspecs
