SupraRider
Hey guys, Was wondering if all of us who resides in Scotland can start to populate this thread with their recommended bodyshops/sprayers under this section of the forum rather than having the scattered-gun approach. I am in need of a good bodyshop/sprayer to fit a full kit plus respray on my car. prefer not to go down south if possible, much rather travel anywhere in scotland. What does everyone think about this? good idea?
kslb
Autospray in Bridge of Don, Aberdeen have a good reputation but are a little pricey, this is a quote a forum member got from them to fit a JDL bodykit. This did not include the purchase price of the kit but did include a full glass out respray. Labour £3520.00 Paint Mett £650.00 Bonding kits £100.00 R+R glass £280.00 Total £4550.00 PLUS VAT Which gives a grand total of £5232.50 including VAT. I think they have tried to price themselves out of the game as they don't want to do a full fibre glass kit. I have left out the forum members name as I am sure he will let you know who he is if he wants to but I would be interested to hear your opinions on this price! Scott
The guy that done mine was going to take 1200 for a re-spray. Fitting a kit etc will hike the price up a fair bit though, especially if it doesn't fit properly and needs lots of work.
Geo
Simons Shop down my way is doing my respray in 2 wks end of May, he does alot of cars for the Mags and stuff and is Highly recommended. Wouldn't take my car anywhere else TBH. Prices are very fair. There was a Mint 350Z Green Colour in Max Power not long ago, he did the paint job for it. Scott
That sounds too cheap. Thats because your used to getting ripped off That quote was just for a blowover though, no new seals or windows out etc etc.
Matt H
Thats because your used to getting ripped off Yes, but only in the Mechanical Department
Scott
Yes, but only in the Mechanical Department So your re-spray and kit cost 5x what mine did. Is it 5x better? Put it this way, will my paint deteriorate 5x in the time it will take yours to?
Matt H
So your re-spray and kit cost 5x what mine did. Is it 5x better? How much did you pay for all your kit, fitting, blending and spraying? And yes, it's 10x better, but that's personal Opinion Edited May 14, 2009 by Matt H (see edit history)

jamesmark
Which gives a grand total of £5232.50 including VAT. Sounds quite reasonable Is it? (Or was it sarcasm) I would say that is very very exspensive. Bodyshops down in Yorkshire that have good reps charge around £2-£2.5k for a windows out respray, example Flukey Lukey's, his was windows out and work on bodykit and it came to £2k. Well i wouldn't be adverse to paying that sort of money for a quality job. Whether others would is another matter. Having said that i'm used to buying expensive paints that have loads of layers etc so that bumps up the cost no end.
Scott
How much did you pay for all your kit, fitting, blending and spraying? And yes, it's 10x better, but that's personal Opinion Kit: Replica Do-Luck front- £120 (fit... perfect, athough a little thin so needed some glass & filler) Veilside Replica Overfenders - £200 TRD Replica Spoiler - £200 Blending of rear bumper, rear spats, overfenders, side skirts, bumper fitting inc mesh & extra filler etc, Spoiler fitting, rear wiper smoothed, roof stripped (had tiny fisheyes) - £1500 Now, i'll be very honest here. I paid the quoted price, when i went to pick the car up again he said he got the pricing wrong and that if he was to do the job again he would be charging £3-£3.5k lol. So my grand total was £2020 wheras it should have been around £4k.
Matt H
Well i certainly didn't pay 20k for my body work! My total came to about 7.5k, including additional body kit parts, a custom bonnet and the purchase and spraying of a very expensive HoK paint

Matt H
You paid almost 4x what i did then. How much do you think HoK paint costs? Just out of curiosity. Just checked my records, i actually paid 5950 for the job. Don't know where i got that other 1.5k from. Anyway, you just said it should have cost you 4k, but the guy under charged you. How is 4 x 5 = 7.5?! I don't think, i know how expensive HoK paint is. It also requires numerous layers of paint, far more specilised than the bog standard black on your's. This is way off topic anyway.... nuff said i think
DaveSupTT
Matt, I never got to look properly on Monday night, but did Night Racer get rid of the overspray on your seats (was it your seats)? And are they respraying your bonnet where the paint is faded/come off round where the holes in your bonnet it? Just curious. Think my car could do with a respray once all other stuff is sorted out! For a start i told you what I paid, not what i should have paid, and i compared that to what you said you paid. That is almost 4x the cost. I'm pretty sure it was clear, afterall it was written down 3 times. Of course with the amount of times it takes you to get a job right on your car i guess thats par for the course. Its not stock black btw and i too know how much HoK paint is, its hardly expensive bud, especially in relation to what you paid. Of course you would know everthing about paint wouldn't you. In fact your now a supra guru, you couldn't put a nut in a monkeys mouth and yet you think you know it all just because you have been screwed more times than a porn star. TTRickeh
Kinghorn are meant to be good, but they're pretty pricey. I got a few quotes from them a wee while ago. £500 to do the front bumper and £450 to do the side skirts in standard black.
Gruggs
Try kenny laird. Has a very good reputation in scotland, lots of mag cars etc and normally deals with the shoe & shine wallopers with tv monitors in the bumper of their 1L Corsa. Cheers G
