mplavery
i do mma well im suspended for 6 months for breaking the person that i was fightings noze haah that was funny Well it was either a accident which you keep repeating and you have no control in your tecniques which is NOT a good thing and your instructor has just had enough of you as you just dont listin or you just have a bad temper which is again not good Things like that can have a really bad image on the club so i dont blame your instructor at all for banning you i dont find it funny imo
DaveSupTT
I used to do kickboxing, got upto 1st dan, and became an instructor. I had to give it up when I went to university though. I do miss it, especially the sparring. I was thinking about taking up martial arts again, but not sure if I'd do something different next time. I've just started a gym membership, so that's where my money and effort is going at the moment. I'd need to get back into shape before I started again I think! MMA sounds interesting though, but full contanct is a scary prospect! What is full contact like, boh for just beginning, and after you've been doing it fo a while? I couldnt tell you meself what full contact is like as at training, we dont go "all out" on each other! So as a beginneer i think its good that your not just thrown in and expected to do a full contact fight against someone who has done it. I think that would put a fe people off. But there are competitions that you can enter and you can do that at any time I guess, as long as you have paid your insurance.

AJI
Yep, used to do it at uni for 2.5 years. Although I can remember most of it in terms of techniques and general aims/goals of each maneouvre it is the actual practicals that you need to maintain on a regular basis to keep any decent standard going. I've only really had to use my training once or twice on 'the street'. And believe me it really works to great effect. I have since built up more muscle at the gym these days and would be difficult to re-attain my flexibility that I used to have a few years ago. ccorcoran
no actually it was in training and we were doing a drill that involved PRETENDING to hit the other person in the face and as i went to hit him in the face the instructor called him and he looked up and i hit him and he is my best friend so thats why it was funny. bignum
I did tai jutsu kwai and kempo karate for a few years, does that count, loved every minute of it but struggled with time due to work and family, i will go back to it one day.

Lbm
my instructor hates me and he THOUGH i did on purpose Hmmm...Hate is a strong word. It's probably the correct word, but it is strong - in a sense like a nice tasty bit of extra mature cheddar.
Carl_S
I don't do MMA but I am just starting to teach a body combat fitness class which currently has a UFC theme. It's a non-contact fitness class and is very fun. Youtubing body combat 39 will give you an idea of what it can be like. ..BTW Hey Rob.
