Ive looked at the stats on these in the back of autocar mag a couple of time

The 0-60 and 0-100 at very similar times. However the 30-70 time (or whatever other time it is they use in the mag) the supra kills is by half the time. something like 10 secs for the supra and 20 for the carlton :)

I would also much rather sit in a supra than a 80s crappy vauxhaul's interior :p

I remember reading that they stopped making the lotus carlton because it could easily outrun the police at the time, There is even a video of a cop car chasing one on youtube the carlton stays in sight for no more than 5 seconds.

When I was a migweb member a guy I knew of there bought one that was broke and covered in green moss crap as it had been stood for almost two years. The guy I knew paid 7k for it in that shape. It has now been fully stripped and rebuilt with new new parts and engine overhaul The car must be worth 15-20k If he still has it. Even the owners manual cost something like £200.

A friend of the family has one locked up in his garage, I think he may even have it on stands. He loves his porsches but he says the Carlton is stupidly fast, even compared to newer shape C4S's. I would think a good bpu sup would have it allthough by that time you would be at rather illegal speeds:)

Here's a load of stats. Quite a rare beast and considdering how many were written off by criminals who knicked them i bet they are gold dust now.

Supra stats - 320 hp (240 kW; 320 PS) at 5600 rpm and 315 ft·lb (427 N·m) at 4000 rpm.

0–60 mph in as low as 4.6 seconds and 1/4 mile (402 m) in 13.1 seconds at 109 mph (175 km/h)

Carlton Specifications

* Top speed - 175+ mph (281+ km/h)

* Peak power - 377 hp (281 kW) @ 5200 rpm

* Acceleration - 0-60 mph: 5.2 sec., 0-100 mph: 11.5

* Peak torque - 419 ft·lbf / 568 N·m @ 4200

* Engine displacement - 3615 cc

* Engine type - Twin turbocharged straight six-cylinder

* Configuration - Front-engined, rear-wheel drive

* Transmission - Six-speed ZF manual

* Weight - 3666 lbs (1663 kg)

* Production - 950 units

* Price - £48,000

In comparison the supra is lighter, 1581 kg (3486 lb). The top speeds are similar. power is less but a BPU will easily make the same. acceleration stats on the supra we know can be taken with a pinch of salt as its usualy quoted 5.1 secs.

And I was driving right next to one, one lunchtime last week, along a dual carriageway in Eastbourne. They are nicely balanced looking cars, considering how big they are. We both gave each other a nod, but no racing, as it was only a 40 limit! :)
