Guest pie
hi people, well i am new here and soon to be new to the supra, it will be my first car that i have bought ! i hope the community is just as sexy as the car lol would be great to hear any advice on it from people. i would like to get the TT manual supra, but if not then a manual none turbo would be good. but i love the sound that the turbo makes, so i will hold out for one. what sort of mileage should i ideally look out for? a lot of the second hand ones have about 86k on them. or do they keep going? ta p
Guest gzaerojon
welcome to the club have a search around on here, there's loads of usefull info on what to look out for
stevie_b
Hello! As always, it depends on your budget. There are far more manual NAs around than manual TTs. A manual TT could typically sell for (wet finger) £7k, whereas a manual NA could go for £3k. The TT version is much easier to get power increases out of than an NA. 86k miles on a looked-after supra shouldn't trouble you at all. Both the NA and TT engines are very strong and capable of uber-miles if the usual basic maintenance has been carried out, and driven with respect (i.e. not revving it hard straight from cold ). If you like the turbo sound, you could get an NA and fit one of these: click me. I'm especially loving the little G-clamp that attaches it to the exhaust tip. tony tt
Hi and welcome to the club have a search in the basic supra guides section next to technical you will find all you need to know and what to look out for when buying one. 86k isnt really an issue providing its been looked after and has all the history with it. To be honest if cared for they will run forever mate. happy hunting!

If you want a twin turbo, then I'd say stick to that and don't be tempted by an NA. IMO the worst thing to do is to buy an NA, and then realise you actually wanted a TT a couple of months later. You can convert an NA to a TT by doing an engine swap, but much better to start with the car you actually want (funds allowing, of course). The auto box on these cars is very well regarded, although I've not driven one myself. PS linky in my 1st post now fixed. You weren't missing much though, just a little banter . stevie_b
By all means phone up for a quote for an NA (model code is "SZ"), but it might not be very different from the RZ, despite the large difference in power. Who did you phone for a quote? One of the insurance brokers will probably get you a better deal than one of the large-volume non-specialist insurers. Guest pie
hey guys , cheers gordy , add h, andy t, stevie b at stevie, yeah i used compare the market.com and the cheapest 90% of the time is Admiral. my mate recomends elephant as you can declare up to 6 added extras and can simply tick box things. havnt had a proper look yet though. yeah for the NA it would cost £550 a year with lots of mods declared. for the TT would cost £1000 standard! at add heywood, ive driven a 1litre vw polo for 3-4 years mate !! im going to be like bugs bunny on the moon with this car
Lacoste82
im going to be like bugs bunny on the moon with this car Welcome! Nomatter what model u end up with, u will love it - But as it is said, u should ofcourse go for the model u really want/wanted to begin with, dont settle - If its possible not to! I have an J-spec auto n/a, and its a lovely car, fast enough for me, although i try not to get tempted into trying an TT, as i "fear" for the outcome Regarding the autotransmission in the supe, its really reliable, and if u dont mind driving an auto(some of us actually prefer it, have it in both my cars), well then it shouldnt keep u from it:) Again, welcome, and happy hunting - i envy u:)
