pistonbroke
I have one of these fitted to my car. The unit itself functions perfectly. however, the LED's that sweep around the edge are really dim. Is anyone elses like this or does mine have a problem?

supra matt
it has a built in photo cell which dims the led's at night or in the dark check this is not covered up . If you mean them dim now ? there meant to be as above
pistonbroke
The actual display in the center lights up fine, it's just the sweep around the outside. Where is the built in photo cell?
bigbloodyturbo
The photocell is at the bottom centre IIRC, when you cover it with your finger the lights should dim. If your having problems with power you could try re-routing the wires through to the heated seat fuse in the fuse box by accelerator, handy as it gives you a location to fuse the gauge aswell. pistonbroke
Sorry resurrect this, but thought I'd add. It seems these gauges suffer with dim LED's. Even when next to an AEM wideband of the same style gauge, they are for no apparent reason, substantially dimmer.

Are you sure? mine seems fine but I dont have gauges anyywhere close to it so it might be that I don't notice. Could you take a pic of it. pistonbroke
Do you have the tru boost controller? I've removed the anti glare plate which darkens it far too much. It's much much better now.
pistonbroke
I also put my finger over the photocell, and it dims even more. It's much better now though without the dark anti glare plate.

Yeah I've got the controller in the clock hole. I powered it from the electric seat fuse postion on the drivers footwell. I dont know if I've got the anti-glare thing on or not as I bought it used and i've never thought of it as dim so never checked to see if the previous owner removed it or not. Where did you power yours from?
pistonbroke
It was fitted to the car when I bought it mate. I don't think it's a power issue. There are threads on the official AEM site about it.

Thats not so good, I want to fit an afr gauge next to it, but if it looks dim it might look weird. I might relocate it to the ashtray, then it wouldn't be next to anything and wouldn't look dim. pistonbroke
Ok, I've taken some pics for you. Here are the pics with the anti glare thing held in front of the gauge Here is it without
bigbloodyturbo
The red numbers on ine are bright enough but the running led's on the outside of the gauge seem a bit dim now that you've mentioned it(and put the pic up). I was happy in my ignorance untill now:)
