Clinton
Hi, I went to look at a twin turbo today that smoked when started up (which indicates valve stem seals) and smoked on boost (which indicates turbo seals) if my research serves me right. I just want to know whether or not you lot would buy a car (at a fair price, not expensive but not cheap,) with these problems already visible? Research tells me valve stem seals can cost anything up to 1000 pounds or do it yourself; but not one post says how much turbo seals cost to replace?? Is this a turbo recondition job?? Cheers
tooquicktostop
Valve seals is no big deal and would not stop be buying a Supra, you are right with your £1000 for a proper head off replacment, Turbo seals would be a bigger worry to me, BUT it depends how cheap the car is, replacement 2nd hand stock tubbies and a days labour would sort it
Chris Wilson
The car would have to be at least 3k under normal price, to do a proper job with new genuine turbos and new stem seals. This would make an early auto TT with those issues worth about a grand max.
