Scott
I found A plan to be very good, Mine is fully comp, 10 years no claims, garaged, cat 1 etc. I pay just over £300. Im 27. My wife is also on the policy and she is 32. I was with A-Plan when i was 24 and wanted to insure an Evo V. They gave the best quote (1550ish) but 6 months later, when i got bored and wanted to change the policy to an MR2 turbo, i got screwed over. Everyone was quoting me around the 500 mark, they said that if i changed to an MR2 they would quote 1100. That meant i would only get £200 back. I told them just to cancel the policy, expecting around half my money back, only to be told they had a clause where i would only get 10% of the money back. This left me with the choice of £200 back and 6 months insurance or £155 back and no insurance. Needless to say i just carried on with the insurance and took it as lesson learned. A lot of these companies are great until it comes to a claim or a change of car. When that happens, they have you over a barrel and screw you for every penny they can. A-Plan had a cheek to come at me with a renewal offer of 900 the following year, i called them up and gave them an earfull and quickly moved over to admiral. Been with admiral ever since. I hope I don't need to change anything on my policy then. I didn't realise they were like that. Makes you realise that sometimes excellent customer service is worth paying a bit more for. I would have gone with sky this year, but with the mot, tax and insurance to pay all at once, and tax on the other car, I couldn't afford to come up with the deposit, as staying with a-plan ment I didn't need one. I had a bad insurer when I had my last Spitfire, much the same as the problems you have had with A-plan.
