SteveR
Out of interest, has anyone on here had to claim through Sky; what is their track record? It is nice that the key guys understand the mods on our cars, but as it meant actual improvements over the typical situation come claim time? Todd
Out of interest, has anyone on here had to claim through Sky; what is their track record? I have searched for this in the past and there are 2 example of people that have gone through the claim process and been very happy with the way Sky handled things and the final payout. I went with admiral this year on a multicar policy for my RX8 and Supra N/A as it was really cheap (400 for the 2) but you really have to factor in the fact that they don't cover mods and you only get market value. That's reassuring to know. I struggled to get an agreed agreed value last year with Adrian Flux, despite jumping through all their hoops for things like an independent estimate of the cars value, because they couldn't find any similar Supras to mine to compare values with. I can't understand that, it's 'only' a fully built year 2000 single turbo with loads of rare factory options (and a rare, albeit replica, bodykit) to boot. I'll try Sky for a quote again this year, in fact I need to get that sorted ASAP as I want to use the car in 3 weeks time.
mr lover
The bit that annoyed me was that Sky give me a renewal quote and I rang round 5/6 known others and they gave me there best quote, all cheaper than Sky, so I assume they put in a high quote and hope we just renew without question. I do not like dealing with companies like this, no feel good factor

I do not like dealing with companies like this, no feel good factor I think most insurers operate this way. It's as if their quotes for new customers are loss-leaders. I've been with Sky for a few years now, and I'm happy with them (not had to claim so far, touch wood). They just need their arm twisting to provide a competitive quote each year. Yup every insurance company operates the same way. Same with house insurance. I am with direct line, every year they send me out a renewal and every year i cancel, get a new quote from them and then take that. I asked them about it and they said its to get the customers in. Once in, obviously a certain amount of them must renew without checking bingo bango. Anyway, it appears we have not only come full circle but are doing donuts. Angarak
Have you tried Lancaster Insurance? They offer agreed value.
Dnk
Im in the process of moving my car insurance to Livingstones. Sky phoned me earlier today and i told them i wasnt happy with the quote on my second vehicle and i'd got exactly the same cover with business use for £340, they said there quote of £416 was the best they could do. I had no issues with the supra policy but will also move that to Livingstones as ive got exactly the same cover on the car as with Sky but also got 90 days European cover thrown in for the same fee. Nothing against Sky as theyve been quite good service wise but £76 dearer on my 2nd car is the clincher. Cant say much about Adrian Flux other than i doubt i'll call them again. Sheefa
Zurich Solutions online are extremely competitive when it comes to pricing providing you manipulate the criteria slightly. As a quick check, with an additional 1 years NCB they were £340 cheaper compared to the 2006 premium for my old Supra.
Mike
Always happy if people want to help out, so do feel free to track down another club insurer that will guarantee a discount over quoted rates, give better quotes than all other insurers out there, understand the mods you have on your car and also do a price match if you do find a better supplier. My mate is MD at Lancaster Insurance - they were a recent(ish) acquisition for my company, and she was put in there to run it. I know Lancaster do a lot of car club things... but they mostly deal in Classics. I've heard people mention on here that they've been insured with Lancaster. If it sounds like a goer I'll have a word and see what they can do?

Guest Suprapr0ject
They all do it. I would stick with them, unless they are not giving you the best price....
jevansio
Just got my Sky quote, £750, cheeky buggars didn't even increment my NCB until I noticed it when comparing with the docs I had. Phoned up A-Plan which I've used before & got £550 (that's again with all mods declared & I got £100 knocked off the excess) . 3 payments over 3 month interest free too I've learned that I'll prolly bounce back and forwards between these 2 as either of them never give you a good quote unless you're returning to them. Dnk
After i spoke to Sky yesterday morning they've done me a better deal which ive accepted so im back with Sky again on both my cars. I spoke to Direct line regards my Landcruiser and they were even worse by quite a lot, they wanted £600 to insure a £2000 vehicle with 6 yrs NCD lol
