Dragonlady
I got my quote last week from Sky and the premium has gone up again even though there is another years NCB on the policy, and also the other half and I are another year older (and wiser!!). I rang Adrian Flux and they have beaten Sky's price by nearly £100 and thrown in protected NCB (something we don't have with Sky). When I rang Sky back they agreed to match the price from Adrian Flux, but to be honest I am getting a little fed-up with their policy of charging £50 - £100 more than everyone else everytime that renewal comes around, and then spending time having to ring A-Plan and Adrian Flux etc to see what they will do it at. I have stuck with Sky now for the past 3 years and gone through this saga every year, and to be honest I don't understand why they should try and get away with charging MKIV members over the odds every year. I know that all insurers are the same, but these are supposed to offer preferred rates to mkiv members. So I was wondering if any one had been insured with Adrian Flux and how they have found them to be? Also is there any advantage of sticking with Sky that I may not have considered? Burna
Did Adrian Flux offer the agreed value Sky do?
Alex
Adrian Flux arn't very good when it comes to making a claim.
Guest Budz86
I'm with Flux and the one thing you need to remember is they are the broker, not the underwriter. They only have so much say in what happens if you need to make a claim. They can be a PITA to deal with, but that's true with most companies. As long as you deal with a supervisor, you should be fine.
Lbm
On the other hand, remembering they are in business and with just a phone call you achieved a price match, so no biggie. You may well be having a similar conversation about another insurance company in a couple of years, if you change.
AlanM
Par for the course, they all do it.
DodgyRog
I understand what you are saying about them being the club insurer so we shouuld get a better rate, I am starting to think the same. I am still with Sky, but when my renewal comes through I will be ringing them for their best price and if someone else beats them (without me telling them the quote) they will get my money. If they can do it for the same price when we ring them back, they should be able to do better the first time, customer loyalty should count anyway and as club insurers more so, they should try and give us the best rates possible. If it's only a few pounds I would stay with them as they are the club insurer and that should work both ways. If it was just a couple pounds, I wouldn't mind, but I think my last renewal was dropped about £150 on price match, which in my opinion stinks:taped:
Scott
I would be after them beating the quote, not matching it. As said though, thats the norm. I got a quote in from admiral for my renewal. I typed the exact same details into the admiral quote online form and got a far cheaper price. They just chance their arm hoping you won't question it. Dnk
Im looking elsewhere too, im afraid its the norm with brokers and always has been. Im waiting on a call back from a broker who is supposedly a specialist in jap performace cars inc imports, i called them early this morning followed by an email with spec and photos of the supra but not had a reply by email or phone Not a good start ! Scott
Tried that and Sky said that they would only match Adrian Flux's quote. A couple of things. Firstly, have you tried admiral? Do you have more than one car? At the moment, on a multicar policy, i am paying just under £500 for insurance. I'm 28 with 10 yrs no claims and 3 points on my license. I have declared all mods etc etc etc and find them to be far cheaper than the likes of Sky & Flux. The only difference is i dont have an agreed value. Secondly, i would be going with whoever quoted the lowest price first. If sky want to come back with a better offer then let them. Phone them up and tell them why you are leaving. I have a feeling you aren't the first and you certainly won't be the last. Their customer service has been terrible for me, and that was me offering my business. I would hate to have to rely on them if i actually was a customer.
Dnk
That sounds like sky to me I tried 3 times to get a quote from them and noone ever bothered to get back to me. Its not Sky, im with Sky now and have just had both my renewals arrive, the supra isnt too bad with agreed value but my second car is way off in my opinion. Im calling this other place to see if i can get both policies down then go back to Sky and get them to match it, im quite happy with there service just the pricings a bit out. Ive got to have agreed value as it would scare me what i'd get if i didnt and the worst happened
ozz
I'm with Bell for my JDM 350z, I stick with them because they were the cheapest on their renewal quote. Sky would match it but as Bell offered me the best price without me having to do any work (although I did to check it) I will stay with them. j80leo
I have been with Adrian Flux now for 3 years and never had a problem, most of my mods have been put on the policy with no charge at all. They can do the agreed valuation which is brilliant, do not think i will change from them;)
SteveR
Tried that and Sky said that they would only match Adrian Flux's quote. They wouldn't even price match when I wanted to start a policy with them last year. I ditched Sky but will give them another chance when I re-insure this year, to give them their dues Jae and the other names that crop up on here have always been fantasic when I've spoken to them (although other staff there are not half as good or as friendly IMHO), it's just a shame the price isn't the "best price" as they claim. mr lover
I ditched Sky couple of years ago, very poor customer service, what I did not like is a high renewal comes through and after the leg work by me they reduce it to match (the last renewal I had through they reduced it by 33% bang out of order)
juanchan
(the last renewal I had through they reduced it by 33% bang out of order) Same with me 15 months ago when I renewed. This year I managed to get about 20% off. I'll also add that Sky left me to do ALL the legwork when I had to claim from a thrid party's insurance when they drove into my parked car (I've got fully comp cover and have always been lead to believe that the broker will do a lot, if not all, of the ringing round chasing the 3rd party insurance underwriter). Branners
Moon on a stick anybody? So you have to phone around a bit to get the best price and not be given it on a plate. Sky are there to make money, thats why they are still in business, because they make money. Make an effort, do some leg work and then see if they will match it. If they dont then move to another insurer and see if you like their service. Thats how insurance works. I would not expect Sky to cut their own throats to give rock bottom prices for those that are too lazy to make an effort. I made the effort and shopped around, I saved over £200 by doing 30 minutes calling about. I will be doing the same again this year for all my cars. Tricky-Ricky
I switched from sky to Flux because they wanted too much for the renewal, now with Flux for the second year, they offer all the benefits of Sky without trying it on every year. mr lover
Sky are there to make money, thats why they are still in business, because they make money. I dont mind people making money but for the so called 'club insurer' not to offer there best price or even a competative price a very poor show.
