Bobbeh
Just browsing the Celica forums and I see the quickest time on the board was a 12.3 @ 119 for a turbo'd 1.8 VVTi engine. Thats pretty damn quick for a FWD car! Might be worth investing in a turbo kit for the old mans Celica.. anyone know anything about such kits available in the UK? Edit - balls to that, just found out it had a 3SGTE engine sawp!!
MONKEYmark
we been talking to a few mr2 owners at elvington. one had a t78 set up and another had a garret gt35?? turbo. they need lots of money spending to get ok power. they were not doing great on times ps the t78 was ok on boost then on gear changes he was loosing boost and you could see it too
Bobbeh
A T-78 on a tiny engine like that!? Nuts. I wouldnt have thought it'd have enough guts to push a tubbie like that well enough.
michael
There are a few T88 2.2L 3S-GTE MR2s around too, low 10's in Japan but yet to do anything similar over here....
Bobbeh
I bet the 2.2 has a bit more umph than a 140bhp low torque 1.8 VVTi unit. I guess the lightweight helps the car pick up a bit quicker though.
michael
About 750bhp seems to make a bit of difference
MONKEYmark
one broke down today a gold colour mr2 with plenty of work done on it. 1 was doing mid 13`s with t78 on it. there is a mr2 in scotland done a high 10 seem rather fragile and need lots of work to get power out of them. michael what do they weigh? a guy with the gt35 had fitted a thick wall block and had a fensport rally manifold his best time was 12.5 but did not do much from what i seen. michael
Yeah just been chatting with him about it Real shame, he's waited ages to get the engine built and had nothing but problems with it since - goes really well on it's good days though!
