I need satnav that has maps of Europe on it. Is this somthing that can be bought off the shelf or is it a case of getting maps loaded onto the machine? My dad has a PDA with TomTom on it, would I be able to get the Europe maps and simply load them onto it?

Tom Tom all the way for SAT NAV's. When buying them it will tell you what maps are pre loaded onto it. If not then yes you will be able to download and install on to it.

You should (99% sure) you will be able to install the maps onto your dads PDA.

You can buy a sat nav with the loaded maps of uk and europe already on it from halfords.

So if I walk into Halfrauds and tell them I want a decent TomTom with UK and Europe maps on it they will be very knowledgable and accomodating? That'll be a first! :D

You will get a better response looking at the box it comes in.

I've been using the Snooper Syrius with European mapping. Its camera location software is very accurate too.

2 years and still happy. Not getting lost and 0 points.

Snap. :)

It doesn't have Greece though. Guess where I'm going in September.

Still, how lost can you get on an island. :)

It has promoted some cracking routes in the past, return journey from Castle Coombe was a right laugh. Juanchan will verify that. :D Luckily we don't have lowered cars lol.

Yes I'm a huge fan of the Greek Islands, however it's served me well in France so far. Are you off to an island Andy or Greek mainland? :)

Pete's villa Rhodes mate. Phoned them up, tongue in cheek like, "they haven't mapped the islands yet". :D

Very nice reception though. Didn't have to tell them I had lifetime map / camera upgrades. Very apologetic. Goes a long way with me. :)

So there you are Flukey Lukey - If you do want to get lost in the Greek Islands, Andy's recommendation is the same as mine - buy a snooper.

That's a compelling price with a 4.3 screen. Doesn't have the "safety camera" info but we all survived before those were available. :)

If I were to do it again TomTom has the quality we look for. Very nice but pricey. :)

Thanks guys I already bought the one I mentioned at the top of this page. Should arrive tomorrow :)

Ivan - Yes I could, but then all I'd hear is "You break it you buy it" and "Don't forget who that belongs to" comments for eternity! So now I have my own :)
