sky7ine
Morning all... I have done a search but couldn't find anything relating to my prob other than the normal starter probs. Went out to the car yesterday turned key and she fired up straight away, went out for a run parked up and came back about 20 mins later turned the key and Nothing no click from the starter completly dead, All the dash lights are on and dim when you turn the key to start but its as though there's no power to the starter. Checked all the leads etc couldnt find anything wrong, So whilst waiting for a recovery truck 45 mins had passed i tried her and she turned over straight away and fired got her home parked up turned her off tried turning over again and nothing left her for an hour went out and she fired up first time again I'm trying to think what it could be have been out to her this morning and she fired up straight away again. Oh She's a Jspec TT Gary

AndyT
Loose earth maybe.
gaz1
so the connections are clean and tight on the battery then, sounds like a poss loose earth or positive wire somewhere, i almost said poss starter problem, but if the lights were dim then that suggests power loss from the battery
sky7ine
Hi gaz Yes batt terminals are clean and tight, have checked and cleaned the visable earth leads in engine bay (going to get her on the ramp on tues an do any underneath) yes the lights are bright on the dash and dim as soon as you turn to start but its as though no power is getting to the starter i even tried the tapping it with a hammer just to see if it was stuck but that did'nt work either. Cheers for the reply's lads
mellonman
hate to say it but sounds like the starter motor mate had this problem on my golf and cleo some years back it was a gamble every time i turnt them off. hitting the starter with hard object can free them instead of waiting for them to cool its all to do with expanding with the heat.but dont know how easy it is to get to the supra starter hope this helps.
