AJI
I'm wanting to take off some of the pre-load on the springs as the ride is currently too harsh for everyday use. (Fine for the track but too crashy over 'a' and 'b' roads. To take off the pre-load I need to wind the spring bases down the shocker and in doing so increasing the spring length. The knock-on affect from this is that the ride height also drops. So to counter this I need to wind out the shocker length from the shocker base. Diagram of RS-R suspension The following image is a photo of the base of the shocker showing how much is currently wound out... Question..... how much more is considered 'safe' to wind out? At the moment you can see that maybe a 3rd of the shocker base height is wound out. I am thinking that if I wind out another 3rd then I will have the last 3rd left in the base. Will this be enough 'meat' left in to take the forces of daily abuse of cornering and 'b' roads?
Tricky-Ricky
The only sure way is to take one off and measure, you can preload them a bit, which will also affect the ride hight.
