hemmjonny
Hi All, Anyone got anyideas why Elephant will not give me a quote with a FMIC? Do you think it would matter if i did not declare it? Thanks Jonathan
Gaz6002
You can get a FMIC on an Elephant???? (sorry, I only read the title) You have to declare ALL mods regardless.
jevansio
I would always declare all mods, have you tried ringing them and saying "uprated intercooler"?
hemmjonny
Yeah tried ringing them but they only get the screen i get so as soon as they tick that intercooler box it dont like it they are really cheap for me too[sAD][/sAD]
Terminator
Have you tried the club insurer, they know what you are talking about.
Ric
companys like elephant, admiral etc dont really like mods full stop
jevansio
I'd say either Sky or A-Plan (Thatcham site) are very mod friendly
hemmjonny
I will give Sky ago tomorow forgot about them as they would not insure me when i was 22 but i should be ok now i am 23. JamesG
You can get a FMIC on an Elephant???? Yes, but it's called a TMIC.
Pig
Why not just wait to get your intercooler till the insurance is ok with it?

supraturbochris
i know its not really part of the question asked but.... im with elephant and you dont actualy have to declare any mods on your policy. Its up to you at the end of the day, it wont make your insurance invaled if your car is modified but if you get into a crash, then the modifications are not covered, only your car

Good luck with that one fella.

supraturbochris
when i renewed my insurance. the bloke i was chatting to about modifications etc did tell me about it, where its true or not i dont actualy know but i do have his actual contact address at elephant just in case

If they had rules like that I'd be driving an E-Type jag over a spaceframe with a BMW V8 and a few turbos.

jevansio
Possibly the worst advice ever! , if Carlsberg gave advice on insurance, it'd be **** all like that

Its up to you at the end of the day, it wont make your insurance invaled if your car is modified but if you get into a crash, then the modifications are not covered, only your car What a load of horsesh** Yea you can LIE to your insurance saying you dont have any mods and say its standard when its not but just like what supraturbochris said they wont pay for your modificatons...In fact they wont pay for anything!. If they find one little detail you have not declared if you had a crash on your car they will have a big smile on there face and say the insurance is VOID... You just got to say to your self, is it really worth the risk... Just declare your mods...A FMIC is not exactly hard to miss now is it. I have had a few problems with elephant to, i insured a MR2 Turbo with them which i wrote off, and with the money i got i bought another one, (both import) But the new one was was coming up as a GT even though it was same year and spec but as they did not have GT on there system they said NO they cant insure it... JamesG
So you're saying I could insure a 1.1 Nova then fit a 5000bhp engine and when I understeer into a wall Elephant will stilll cover me??? Good luck with that one fella. I'm not sure the third party would be invalidated, so they'd probably still cover the wall
Safely Insured
im with elephant and you dont actualy have to declare any mods on your policy. That is not true. Elephant (like any insurer) will need to know about any change made to the vehicle. Not the best advice to give out I'm afraid.
