Kirk
a pretty pointless topic BUT if you must ask, mr2 would jump on you off the line
Gaz6002
In a straight line the Supra should have it after 30mph. Round the twisties the MR2 will be faster, but the Supra will be more fun. Do it, you won't regret it.
jevansio
Loads of members went from MR2 to Supra (myself included), don't regret it one bit, the MR2 is a fantastic car, but the Supra is just another level

j1mb0b1
I should think the Mr2 would have the supra in it's pocket up to around 100 mph then the supra will take over supras are not cars for what they do 0-60 but what the do after 100mph is what I like about my TT, I have been beat by a corsa turbo last week and last month a polo with a golf turbo did me but not too fussed as i know after 100mph they would not stand a chance

Something must be a bit iffy with your car or your driving if you can't get a supra to launch. Its tricky as hell but 5sec 60's aren't unknown. I blew a corsa turbo away in my MR2, they aren't all that. My wifes MR2 is around 280bhp and is quick as hell till around 60. I reckon with me driving i could just about get ahead of my supra till it hit 2nd. The big difference is that my MR2 has 100bhp less. BHP for BHP an MR2 will be quite a bit faster. Stock vs stock i haven't driven though. As said, the supra is on a completely different level. The MR2 feels like a track car on the road. The supra has similar low down performance, startling mid/high end performance and all the comfort and toys of a living room
alaing
Thanks guys for the replies. Looking forward to getting my supra on the road! should be BPU pretty soon after. Im tempted just to keep the mr2 because thats what i got the passion for a turbo from but everything about the supra is AWESOME and i know it!!! Its a completely different animal. Whether that would be a good enough reason to keep a car or not is debateable though.
pistonbroke
Depends what revision MR2. After revision 3, they were considerably quicker. There was a video on here a while back of stock supra vs stock mr2 tubby. The mr2 had the supra by a nose on a short little blat. When I mean short, I mean less than a quarter mile. After around the 50-60mph mark, the supra will reel in the little tubby and spit it out. On my old 2007 supra pod video (trying to re-host somewhere), rogue systems had their fettled mr2 going down the strip, it beat every supra it went up against. It was far from stock though. EDIT - remember you only have to spend a few hundred pounds on the supe to take it to BPU. then you can kiss goodbye to pretty much everything that pulls up next to you

supraturbochris
its so true, i went from a mr2 turbo to a supra tt, and have not regretted it one bit, i love the mr2's but the supra is a completely different ball game. In the A class league as i call it
Scott
Depends what revision MR2. After revision 3, they were considerably quicker. There is not as much in that as Rev3+ owners would have you believe. The reason the Rev3 has more HP is because the tubby can spool to the redline whereas the CB26 doesn't. Same goes for when you go to BPU, the rev3 will JUST edge it over the others. On the dyno it appears to have that bit extra, in real life it doesn't, again due to the spool or the tubby. Around 300bhp from a rev3 wheras 280 from a rev2 can be gotten On the road the cars are very very similar. In the twisties the Rev2 has it over the rev1 and the rev3+ has it over them all. The chassis was modified during those 3 revisions.
johnny g
6oZdix0rLRU Doesn't look like the Supra has a good launch though.
Supradan
He missed a gear in the supra as well, would have been a lot closer then
pistonbroke
Bottom line is, for the OP. You will NOT be dissapointed with the supra. DO IT!!
jaymdee
I've gone from owning a Supra TT (BPU) to an MR2 Rev 3 Turbo (still got Supra ) and I'm always impressed with the speed of the MR2 off the line. It's running 1.1 Bar boost and feels really quick, particularly on the lanes But the Supra always shocks me with the devastating speed from a rolling start. To be fair, it's not bad from stationary actually, 13.08 at Supra Pod You won't be disappointed, but I doubt there'd be much in it up to 100 if you were going from a modified MR2 Turbo to stock TT

jevansio
Modified MR2 turbo would kill a stock TT to 100. Yip, it's easy to see why though, 300bhp in a 1200kg car vs 320bhp in a 1500kg car
Todd
Who would win?! Im hoping its the supra as just about to sell my mr2 tubby dont want to be dissapoint with the supra Why sell the MR2 for the Supra if you haven't driven one?

Guest proburt
I like many others have both the mr2 2.0T and supra TT. The mr2 has a downpipe, upgraded ct-26, oversized ss valves to keep it spooling fast. stock boost the supra has trd sway bars and strut brace, stock everything else. my experience is the mr2's are over rated, the supra was faster both from a dig, and a roll, even handled better, it is more stable and predictable in the turns. just my opinion after owning tweeking and driving both.
