Max Headroom
Had to put my little rottweiller to sleep, he was half jack russell, half cairn terrier and half rottweiller. His liver had packed up and wasn't eating and we had him on painkillers. What made it worse was it was almost a year to the day that I put my other dog to sleep. They were both rescue dogs and both played a major part in our lives for the past 13 years. Going to get another rescue dog though. I keep having to stop myself looking round and seeing his little face there

PJ
I feel for you. The hardest thing I have ever had to do is take my dog in to have her put down after 12 years of companionship. I was distraught when I carried her through the doors of the vet to ask to put her out of her misery, I couldn't talk, choked right up and broke into tears. Just at the stage now, almost two years on, that I feel I can get another. Mine was a rescue dog too. Sorry for your loss fella

merckx
I'm really sorry to hear that. It's so gut wrenching when this happens but it does get easier as you'll already know, remember that you did all you could and he had a really good home. Unfortunately they've got to go sometime but being able to put them to sleep is always the kindest thing and best way to just go peacefully to sleep. Kranz
Its hard..... you look after them like kids that never grow up, and you always feel so unbearably bad when they have to be put to sleep. But its the kindest thing to do. I sympathise with you mate

Dnk
Had to have our Doby put to sleep and it was heartbreaking, having that power over life and death is very scary but its the best thing you can do if there suffering and cant be helped. Shame we cant do something similar for us when we get to that stage. ATB
