Bradb
Just got my car back from MOT passed. No problems. The blokes at the MOT station said they are the best brakes we've ever had in here. They're come in at a "50" and said tat bizzarely they 're running on Lexus running gear. Means nothing to me, but according to these guys they're amazing and the best they've ever seen. J-spec brakes amazing eh. Is this cobblers?

Makes sense now BTW - how much did you pay for 18" Kahns ?? Dean.

Bradb
Yea but seeing as they're only for road use , with the occassional hard brake... I'm a happy camper. Although branners has been doing a real selling job on these J-spec race pads from teh4 usual suspects.
Mark Ayling
Indeed, compared to a "normal" car they're obviously very good brakes, as you'd expect from top end performance car - and for basic road use they will do the job fine. However, I bet if you did uprate them (even just the pads) that you would be well impressed with the difference - I've yet to do this but must do soon! Bradb
Lee Burley did a 120 Lepton BRAKE BRAKE BRAKE.. I held on for my life that was with his UK spec brakes. Amazing difference
Adam W
I got straight out of my 80's-tech Mk3 Supra with standard brakes and then drove a J-spec supra with standard brakes (this was at JIC), and was shocked at how totally awful they were. Then I drove a J-spec supra with UK brakes, and they were an absolute pleasure to use. AFAIK the two MkIV's were using standard pads . . . LOL - I totally agree, except I killed both my front and rears on the road! They never saw a track - Thankfully
Need4Speed
I've just converted my TT to UK spec because the J-spec brakes were the worst brakes I've found (apart from my 1972 Fiat 500 - but it only does 60mph) and the UK spec are the best I've ever found. All who think J-spec are good, glue in your false teeth and wire on your glasses and then try UK-spec! Oh yes.. those R4 pads!
Terminator
I have changed to UK brakes too, I found the Jap brakes did not give the same comfidence as my other cars. I killed them on the track, then they were only good for sub 70 lepton stops. Tried to use them at 160 leptons on a private test track and nearly shook the car to bits. They were so weak the ABS never kicked in once in two years. With UK brakes ABS has done its stuff twice in two days:D Just before I swapped the brakes to UK, I really tried to get ABS to kick in and did some very heavy braking at low speed but nothing, I thought it did not work. BTW how many miles for a good bed in on new rotors and pads?. 100ish??
Keith C
I must be a complete braking loon then, as not only have I managed to warp a set of UK discs and cook a set of Porterfield pads, but I also reckon that UK brakes with CW pads, 5.1 fluid and braided hoses isn't really enough... Need4Speed
Carbon Pads? 1 hard stop or 2? Mine were perfect from day one.

Dragonball
'kin ell Keith You dont need brakes - you need an anchor! Ever thought of staying in the merest vicinity of the legal limit? Paul:cool:

Keith C
What's a speed limit? I dunno what it is - if, for example, I'm doing a lap of the Bluewater circuit, the pedal feel changes (gets soggier) after the 3rd roundabout. Having said that, someone suggested that I could have cooked the fluid when I had to do an emergency stop at 175 leptons, so I'm going to get some more from Chris W. Bradb
An emergency stop from 175.. What! Was a plane landing?
Keith C
No, I was racing a new M3 down the M20, and this dozy bint pulled out in front of us, which resulted in the pair of us standing on our brakes as we desperately tried to shed speed down to the 0.00000001mph she was doing in the outside lane.
