Chris Wilson
Took the Lola for a shakedown test at Donington yesterday, I was, as usual, behind on schedule and the only wets I had were these that came with the car, and were at least 8 years old. 4 laps and 3 spins suggested that they were never going to work Peeing rain, a new car, and a circuit slick from construction work traffic driving along it were not good conditions to try out something with near 500 BHP and 530 kilos in weight! It was an experience. Jane took a few photos though, sadly only a few came out. She didn't get Mansell's Williams Renault, or a current DTM Mercedes that were there, and both utterly stunning. There was a lovely V10 Arrows F1 out, too, as welll as some late Group C cars and Lola T70's. Credit crunch? No one told these guys My pal Terry managed some video of the exotic stuff though, I am making a seperate post asking how to get it from an old camcorder to a DVD later. http://www.chriswilson.tv/donington/donington.html

Chris Wilson
Good stuff, so what does it go like then Hard to say on wooden tyres, but even on new tyres I feel you could easily frighten, or even damage yourself in it
Chris Wilson
What series are you competing in this year Chris?? The Lola's just for fun, but the turbo Zeus should be out in the Open Sports Car Series later in the year.
tbourner
Are these the snow wheels on the back of this: http://www.chriswilson.tv/donington/DSC07246.JPG
Chris Wilson
LOL Could do with making some of those for the Lola, people adapt motorbike wheels to make the car a lot narrower for transport and storage, those hugely wide rear tyres make for a VERY wide car in the garage or truck. Homer
Awesome car Chris, can't even begin to imagine how much work that is to drive, let alone in the wet!
Chris Wilson
What licence do you have Chris? Car's looking nice, what plans do you have for the stickers etc it came with - leave em or change em? I have an International. I'll be leaving the car as is, and maybe I will strip and repaint it over the next winter, if we are still here and not wiped out with the `flu
SteveR
I like your new toy. Were spectators allowed at Donington when you went? I'd love to come and see it in the flesh so to speak. I promise not to drool on the car or ask you too many annoying questions. International license - did you compete at that level?
Chris Wilson
You are very unlikely to get challenged on a test day, I can't think of a cheaper way to watch fairly late F1 cars, or other exotics Wear overalls and you should have the pit lane as your oyster No worries if you want to come along some time, not sure when it'll be out next, got a few projects here at home to keep `er indoors happy I have raced at International level, yes, but not with any great distinction
SteveR
I have some very grubby overalls at home (clumsy oil changes carried out whilst lying underneath various cars) that should do the job. You need to fit a camera or two to your latest toy so we can all enjoy a bit of the fun, unless you fancy fitting a second seat or lending it out? Chris Wilson
I don't do cameras, I am not superstitious, but the three or so occasions where I have had one fitted have resulted in bad luck

SteveR
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Mansell_and_Senna_at_Silverstone_ultra_cropped.jpg I'd forgotten about that.
Chris Wilson
A friend of mine called Nick Shrigley-Feigl has built a stunning two seats in tandem F5000 but most circuits are so `elf and safety paranoid that he finds it hard to run it with a passenger installed. There are a few F1 engined twin seater "single seaters" around now, too.
