Sometimes you canget away with a 2.5 and no restrictor ring...but you'll never get away with it on a 3"...so you can either try for decatted without a ring or just know you'll have to get a ring...pays your money etc etc

A 2.5 inch pipe will still need restricting so why spend more on a 3 inch? A 2.5 pipe will flow enough exhaust gas flow for at least 500 BHP on a turbo car, with no real restriction. People are jumping on a bigger is better bandwagon for fashion reasons at the moment, IMO. I am spending a HUGE amount of money building a trick RB26 Skyline engine for myself with a desired 600 BHP. I won't be using a 3 inch system, let alone a 4 inch.

Does the wife also agree with this way of thinking Chris , smaller is better

I have to disagree the Starions i used to work on showed a massive improvement just from fitting a bigger downpipe and i KNOW my car spools quicker than others with similar turbos (im talking the 67 i started with ) and ive got the big HKS cams !!!!!

thank you Chris and dude,

I guess if my car is standard and I am going to install a restrictor ring there will be no different in 2.5 or 3"

There are a few pipes for sale here therefore I ask the question.

many thanks

Whats the standard piping on the Jspec Sup TT?...looks either 2.25 or 2.5...

Bearing that in mind, if one were to remove the CATs but still keep the cat-back standard piping then a restrictor ring wouldnt be needed?
