Steviekid
I'm refurbing my J-spec brakes and I pumped the brake pistons out with the pedal until I thought they were nearly out. Unfortunately I significantly underestimated how deep they were and they're nowhere near out. The brake lines are now disconnected and am struggling to remove them. I've read on here that people get them out with compressed air. How do you get a decent seal? Is there a proper attachment for a compressor as I can't seem to find one? Or would I be better off bleeding the system and pumping them out with the pedal some more?
Dnk
I had an airgun with a rubber end so no problem getting a seal, the hard part is getting all the pistons as far out as possible before 1 of them pops out. Wen i say pop i mean bang as they will fire out very quickly, i took mine off the car though as it makes it much easier to do and held them in a vice with a block of wood where the disc would be. Dnk
Yep thats the exact same one ive got, go easy with squeezing the trigger though as it shouldnt take too much to pop them out. You can carefully hold the piston with pipe grips right on the end where the outer seal fits and rotate the piston back and forth to help remove any that are still in the caliper, i wrapped my pipe grips with masking tape Good luck Edited April 28, 2009 by Dnk (see edit history)
