BOB B
Hi, please read the thread before you shout at me for not searching, I did have a good look. I, shall give you all the rellevant car info first, I'm a UK spec full BPU with both cats out and Greddy boost controller. I had the car checked for emissions a month before the MOT just in case it passed, it didn't, I have a 1st cat to go in for the MOT. My questions are :- Because of the two O2 sensors on a Uk would it be best to have the cat fitted a few days before to give the ecu a good run around to re-adjust all its mixtures and settings or just get them to fit it, check it, change it back again all in the one go? My second question is if I get the cat fitted and I drive around for a few days will I have to do anything with the settings on my boost controller? Thanks. Bob. Dave17
If you really want to reset the ecu on your Supe all you have to do is unplug the battery for a while, then you can let it relearn everything, not a problem....definately not a few days, more like a few miles. You might want to turn the boost down abit because the first cat is a big restriction, and it will cause increased EGT's.
Ian C
You can change it just before you go - the closed loop system is separate to the catalytic convertor, it'll have no effect. -Ian
dan4
One cat will get you through no problems anyway as long as yourcars running well Mine was only 0.2% out on CO2 with no cats before i went single, passed all other areas
BOB B
Cheers, Thanks a lot people, sounds as though from what you are saying it should be no problem with doing it all in one go at the time of the MOT, spot on. Bob.
