loks
Having just acquired a MKI Aristo for 2K British notes just recently, I can highly recommend them - especially coming from a NA Supra.... They can certainly get your nipper from A-B a lot quicker and also have a huge boot - just be careful of the boot struts - my boot lid has tried to guillotine my head off on a couple of occasions now :headless smilie: Be careful of the filler cap, it is on the other side and has caught me out also on a couple of occassions too Apart from that, great cars. Stealth-1JZ
no probs on the GTi-R front i can chip in there as im mates with the oweners of the 3 biggist power 1s here. the big week point is there gearbox, much more then 350hp they wont last long, the ppg kit is a common upgrade. there brakes are fairly bad aswell if you like to drive hard. the GTIROC is a good place for info

hadyn
Been reading this thread with interest as often daydream/think a lot about an actually real alternative to the goodness that is the Supra TT. Most of these cars, I wouldnt class as genuine alternatives, but offer different strenghts in terms of practicality, 4WD etc etc The cars I would consider next, if mine blew up or something would be: Soarer 2.5 TT or V8 to pimp around in Legacy GTB/B4 RSK Twin Turbo Nissan Stagea Autech (GTR estate ) BMW M5 ST2O5 GT4 Evo 7 and I think thats about it

Sadly yes, the Rex is to my mind the most beautiful car to come out of Japan... ...if I sell the kid I can spend the money on fuel and engine rebuilds! Looks a lovely clean example, very much a wolf in sheep's clothing... And it's a Newera car £3195! It's not the one for me, auto and a bit too big. http://www.pistonheads.com/SALES/991140.htm

PJ
As a family man who's Aerotop couldn't cope with the 2 sprogs the Aristo was the perfect choice for me, I have a Soarer as well which I would say was impractical for kids if you are 6ft or over, just like the Supra there's very little room in the back. With the Aristo you have the benefit of the tuning knowledge here and parts, as well as manual conversions and single turbo goodness. TT Aristo for about £2k and you're laughing, 5 speed or 6 speed conversion, BPU, can't say much more. I think that with the GT-4 and stuff you're not going to have that much more practicality than you already have with the Supra.

Ah misread that it should have 4 places.... I think the aristo is a good alternative and offcourse the skyline... but I doubt the skyline would give you much fun with its 4wd. I atleast have more fun with the rex then the skyline
hoff
A gt-4 will not be that much more practical than the supra but that would be my choice.
tDR
A gt-4 will not be that much more practical than the supra but that would be my choice. They seat 4 comfortably and have a useful hatch style big boot, not rear seats for legless dwarfs and a parcel shelf pretending to be a boot like a Supra... how are they not practical? Being a Coupe they look a lot better than Evo's and most Scoobies that are all just 4-door saloons with bits stuck on. A BPU ST205 GT-Four is a very quick thing - I've raced my bro's on the sprint track at Crail and we were faster than the FQ400 Evo 8 also there in a timed laps competition, and faster than an absolute raft of Evo's and Scoobies of various types there. On the strip with BPU mods my bro's was in the high 12's - again the other marques of 4WD couldn't keep up. Thats faster than many BPU Supras manage and on a crap surface. The ST205 standard brakes are very similar to the larger Supra brakes so with decent pads and fluid they give it a real advantage over most of those cars especially the ones produced at that time. You can probably tell I'm a bit of a fan! Just now I've been resisting the temptation to own one as a Knockhill toy given it's perfect for the job pretty much out of the box
hadyn
A gt-4 will not be that much more practical than the supra but that would be my choice. My mate had a ST205 GT4 and you could seat two adults in the back of his comfortably and have a decent sized boot too Great cars.

Ian W
rx8 then? Has the rear doors, granted.....but about as much leg room as the Supra sadly.
Ian R
Toyota Chaser ??
Guest chinstrapped
Toyota Chaser ?? Another good suggestion, it seems like a similar car to the Soarer and Aristo... It's a bit on the, er, *large* side lol (I don't have to be TOO practical ). To be honest I'm more likely to lean toward the rally-oriented cars, as my preferred type of driving is on twisty roads (not that I'm particularly good)... But while looking for the Chaser on Pistonheads I found the Altezza: only 200BHP, but they're RWD (didn't know this) and apparently a 2JZ-GTE conversion is possible Could be an interesting ongoing project? dangerous brain
You can get a 3.0 litre 2jz-ge engines altezza and if you get the vvti one there is a bolt on supercharger kit from the states for it

dangerous brain
Its down for a database back up at the minute but here it is http://clubaristo.net/forums Arnout in Holland can stick an aristo lump in a European DM Lexus GS300 as he's done that before. Correct hand drive then.
