AndrewOW
I haven't got a problem with horses on the roads at all. They are only going from the stables to a field for their exercise anyway, so it shouldn't really be problem. I also like looking at the fine girlie rider's asses bobbing up and down too. Ahem sorry, I drifted off there for a bit!
The Raven
My sister rides at a very high level and sometimes takes her horses out for a ride down the road. I fail to see the differance between a bike and a horse tax wise. Never hear about chavs racing horses, crashing horses into other horse owners. dodgydave13
out my way out in the sticks of bristol there every where and yes you get a couple of fit uns but most of the time i feel sorry for the horse carrying such weight and when theres a young girl like the age of 16 chatting on her mobile whilst riding a horse, its a unpredictable animal with a mind of its own
dangerous brain
I also don't think horses should be on the road but more for the safety of the rider than any inconvenience caused. There's alot of "illegal" exhausted vehicles about that like to "blip" which can result in a horse spooking and tossing a rider off As for beeping at cows, stop being a kn*b its a public right of way and wether you like it or not any given farmer has the right to drive his animals on that right of way to get them animals where they need to go. I bet you are happy enough to tuck into a juicy fat steak Also startling animals on a road is probably not the quickest way of getting them off said road, chasing cows down a street is hard work and takes longer than co-ordinated driving of them. TRD DAN
do they have any kind of insurance cover these horse riders ie public liablity ect my grandad was almost killed when a horse unpredictably kicked him when he was younger so you do have to very cautious around them
jacko
I miss the old hardcore horse's that cowboys ran about on shouting and firing guns , nowadays a nur spec from 200 yards is enough to terrify them . I used to ride at the stables just down from Santa Pod, that was noisy lol With regards to the debate i dont have a problem with horses using the roads, infact i cant remember the last time i got annoyed by having to slow down for one, but i can remember the last time i got annoyed by some tw*t's driving..... fizzle
shame on you guys!! Horses should be aloud to use roads, its just you do get snotty twats riding them that dont give way or train their horses for road use. Most people only go on road if its absolutely necessary, going to/from bridal ways. You will never cure spooking a horse from dicks driving past at silly speed, thats why you should always slow down and give a wide birth, its called compromise. If you drive up their arse, revving your Nur Spec then expect to have your lights put out or bodywork whacked!! I have sat on the bonnet of some silly old bastard driving up my arse when i was on a 20m stretch of road running through the village between fields, car parked either side, so no-where i could of gone! he didnt find it as amusing with the weight of a shire on his corsa!! but thats what happens when you beep n drive like a gimp.. That said, there is an equal amount of dickhead riders, causing unneeded queues, etc.. pull over let the cars pass!!!
juanchan
Just reread this. It's not even your own rant. I'm going to personally buy you a horse. You will love the horse. You will feed the horse. You will water the horse. You will become like the horse. Marvellous stuff I don't have a problem with horses per se, but (and I'll probably step on some toes with my wild over-stereotyping here) I have an issue with horse owners / riders. There's a large stables just down the road from my folks place, and every single one of the women I've encountered from there has been arrogant, selfish and had her head so far up her own ar$e there's little wonder they all walk funny. All IMO of course
benkei
a horse tossing a rider off On a serious note, I love horses. They're beautiful animals. Not their fault that all the roads are tarmacced, is it?! We have horses living up the street and they regularly take people out on carts, so my road is always plastered in horse cr@p! It always seems to end up right outside my driveway too!! I agree that some kind of contribution to the roads should be made.. Based on their CO2 emissions of course Or at least cleaning up the cr@p! The same as cyclists, who are more of a pain than horses! Horses are, as has been said many a time, an unpredictable animal. They've been taken to our roads, they're not there by choice, so some respect and courtesy should be shown when driving near them. It's not hard to hang back a little and drive past calmly and quietly until you're in the clear. You're driving on public roads FFS, not attempting to qualify or set a lap record! SupraGirlie
I don't have a problem at all with horses, I love them, and always slow right down to pass them. It's not much fun riding on a busy road though, but I guess not everyone is lucky enough to own alot of land on which to ride on though or live in the country side with lots of nice quiet country lanes to ride down. SUPRALOOPY
if a cow was walking in the road and its in youre way you blow the horn at it and it doesnt care but oh no you cant blast your horn at it ,it'll startle the horse and for all those car owners who have nice big exhausts on your cars and have to tip toe around the vile beasts and leave a good distance before blipping off its an outrage get them off our roads. and also for the people who take pride and joy in polishing there cars and go for a nice country rant and splash a load of horse cr#p on there veilside skirts or crop the top off a mound and it sticks itself all over your lovely intercooler you know its just not nice dog walkers have to pick it up y dont they everyone says that horses were there before cars yes i agree and 8 tracks were there before tape and tape was there before cd so yes horses were there before cars thats why we modernise and move on and oh yes im sure acarrage way was made of mud which is fine for a horse and welcome to away of life its called concrete and guess what horses dont get much traction with iron shoes out my way out in the sticks of bristol there every where and yes you get a couple of fit uns but most of the time i feel sorry for the horse carrying such weight and when theres a young girl like the age of 16 chatting on her mobile whilst riding a horse, its a unpredictable animal with a mind of its own YOU KNOB!!! Franko
Well what i want to add is how come Horses can dump everywhere and it doesnt need to get cleaned up by the owner but yet when your dog does a poo in grass you need to pick it up? But i do like horses i just dont understand why there are different rules?
Supra-Brett
Pardon the pun but im going to "buck" the trend as i HATE HORSES. 1) They are unpredictable 2) They dont have insurance/need insurance as far as im aware and that is just wrong - who pays when one goes bonkers and damages a car (it doesnt have to be a moving car that spooked it, ive seen horses buck, kick, run off and damage parked cars in the process for no obvious reason) They should all be bred for dog meat. However i know that, that isnt going to happen, so i will settle for it being made compulsary for horse riders on public roads to pay for insurance. TLicense
I don't mind horses, but I think that if they should be insured to be on the road. Also you should have a minimum age before you're allowed to be in charge of a horse on the road. My girlfriend's Mother lives just down the road from a stable and I'm always seeing young kids (look like 10 years old) riding massive horses. If the guy who posted earlier drove by and startled the horse, there's absolutely no way that the kid could control it, and who knows what the consequences could be. But i do like horses i just dont understand why there are different rules? For a start, carnivore faeces smell much nastier than herbivore faeces. I know horse shit does smell, but imagine a dog turd the size of a pile of horse droppings - you wouldn't want to be downwind of it. All that putrefying meat in carnivore faeces is gagtastic. Then you've got the parasites. Dog and cat shit carry toxocara, which can cause blindness. And sheepdogs can carry Echincoccus multicoccularis (sp?) - iirc, that can be pretty nasty. I don't know about parasites in horses, but my guess is that they aren't anyway near as dangerous, at least in the UK.
Ian R
I find that people who are negative towards horses on roads are usually those they are inconsiderate and believe that they have more right on the road than anybody else. They most likely have the same attitude towards cyclists as well. For those that think this way just remember that a road is a PUBLIC highway
adnanshah247
If they are silly enough to fit that failside cr@p to the car then it deserves a splash of horse cr@p imo:D LOL brilliant come back! LMFAO but i must say, i have had a really close call, i was popping down a country lane and i drove over some horse cr@p that slid the back end out, i almost ended upside down in a ditch, went back to the pile of poop which had the print of a 285 continental in it! i personally dont have anything against horses, i actually like them and enjoy riding them but something must be done with the muck they leave. the cr@p that did fling up on to my car dried up and left marks on my paint work.
