TooColdToDrive
My girlfriend Natalie is coming back to our province for 4 months and 3 weeks, and would rather not make the 3200 kilometer drive back. She's leaving her 2001 Civic sitting in a watched parking lot for that time. Just looking for some quick tips as to what she would need to do (gas tank supplements/disconnect and store the battery/ etc) Any help is appreciated - thanks guys. hogmaw
Make sure it's locked(!) and empty of contents, parked under a light near the exit and among other cars if possible. Check tyre pressures upon return. Probably a few other things I am sure other people will point out.
philstowell
main one i used to do when i deployed to iraq or afgan was to disconnect the battery as ya said and leave the handbrake off, obviously put it in gear tho. also, it may be worth asking smeone to have a check every now and then too? L18msy
Yeah leave the handbrake off, it will be a bugger to free the brakes off if they seize.

Gaz6002
Take the battery out, that will stop people stealing it quite effectively. Also, I'd be tempted to give the car a thorough clean to make sure nothing rots in the interior.
