scrappage deal.

The Mrs is nagging me for a new car, she wants to use the scrappage deal announced today in the budget to replace her Corsa. Problem is, her Corsa although ten years old, is pretty mint and lowish milage (cost over a grand last year). Anyone know the deal fine print yet? Wondering if its possible to buy a £50 scrapper for the deal and sell hers privately.

Also, been trying to find a comprehensive price list of all new cars (starting at the lowest :D) Anyone have a link to one?

this is a stupid attempt of the government to get rid of old cars-

1- whoever has an old banger would be able to afford a brand new car?

2- that new car would loose a 5th of its value as soon as it leaves the forecourt.

3- hardly anybody buys new cars

4- everybody's skint

I read on BBC news that you have to proove you've owned the scrapper for 12 months. Haven't seen this anywhere else though.

I think you're right :(

Still can't find a comprehensive list of new car prices, what is the cheapest runabout available?

I always used to look in the back of top gear magazine for a list of new car prices.

Something like a citreon C1 or Peugeot 107 are probably fairly cheap. Or a toyota aygo?

Or you could wait for the tata to come to the UK at about £1500 new :D

So you give them your £50 scrapper, and Tata give you their new car and £500 change :D

Over in Miami most car companies are offering 0% finance with no deposit and offering to either take the car back for free or continue your payments for up to 12 months if you loose you job

It'll be a case of no other discounts after you've got the 2K off and it'll be off max list price.

TBH I've got better deals than that off new cars prior to this downturn so not worth it imo.

My thoughts as well...

You must be able to get more than 2K of decent new cars at the mo anyway, bet very few people will spend less on new cars in the future.

It works the same in my busines. I can give £1,000.00 off the list price of a new Karcher Steam Cleaner at £2,999.00 for an old dog of a part exchange.

If he hasn't got a part exchange I can give him £1,000.00 discount !

I'll check it out tomorrow and get back to you.

Depends on how much you can get them on the net for, sometimes people are happy making a fiver on stuff which is about what Karcher will charge me for their postage :-)

Do what I can Paul.

Cheers

Sorry Paul, just remembered this :-(

Under Chassis Lance for HD range:

Karcher 4760245

List £128.90 plus VAT

To you £100.00 including nozzle, Interlink Express & VAT.

Same as:

http://www.cleanstuff.co.uk/acatalog/Karcher_Industrial_Lances.html

PLEASE NOTE: The £25 one you see about is for the K range (Domestic) and I'm 99% sure won't fit your HD machine.

Cheers

Gerry

Mods: This is not a new "online business venture" but a favour for another member. I'll be making £5.89 on it :)
