Guest Nollaig110
Hi im looking at a few supras lately (1st time buyer) and have seen quite a few semi automatic RZ-S models. Can anyone tell me how this semi-auto set up works is it tiptronic? Also has anyone had any experience with this gearbox - is it problematic.? I guess it would not be half as much fun as driving a manual but im finding it hard to get a good RZ-S manual for decent money. Any help would be appreciated

Any help would be appreciated the "tiptronic" supra is just an normal auto box with the buttons on the steering wheel, i have driven one and they do give you a bit more control, reliability would be no different to a non "tip" auto box
Terminator
I have driven one too. I would say it is better than the auto due to the improved control. As for the box it is bullet proof, as long as fluid changes have not been neglected.

On the stick, put it into 1 to drive in 1st, 2 to drive in 2nd and D to go into 3rd. Its something like that anyway, never driven one. OhGod
The only thing to watch out for on the tiptronic is I believe it has some trouble with wanting to change down into 3rd on full throttle even if it's out of the rev range for that. Something like that anyway...little bit vague on this as I don't own one, but do recall reading something on it.
mawby
That would be the VVTI tiptronic kickdown problem after fitting a delimiter.
