I have this it performs really well and believe me it is loud as hell!:flame Dev
Matt Harwood
Originally posted by paulrenn Hi Matt, Has your car always exhibited this symptom, or just started? Did you make any changes (ie mods) after which this started? It's fine if I keep the boost below 1.2. Even at 1.35 it's only under certain circumstances like going from full throttle at max revs, the autobox changes up a gear as I reduce throttle to almost nothing. Obviously this is rare, as I don't tend to drive like that, but it can happen on things like busy roundabouts/junctions etc Gavin, the stock one is working OK, I was talking to Leon about the symptom and he explained how BOV's work. I may have mis-interpreted what he said but it seemed clear at the time.
Terminator
When using the auto box on Manu mode you are supposed to lift off the throttle between changes otherwise you can put almost full torque through the converter during the change. An aftermarket BOV helps to dump all that pressure in the system more quickly than the stock recalculating type.

Matt Harwood
Very possibly as mine only does it when the box shifts up a gear - Maybe due to full throttle gear change???
Guest Terry S
Matt, never suffered surge on stocks or hybrids but I had an additional BOV. If necessary I'd go new Blitz, although I can get CHEAP HKS kits. Paul the HKS kit comes with mounting kit.
Matt Harwood
Perhaps I do have something else wrong??? - But again, you have a manual car, my 'stalling/blowback' only happens occasionally on auto gearchange at WOT. I'm going to go and see Leon again before 27th, (Want to give you a run for your money Terry! - But only racing on cranking time... See whose car starts first! ), I'll ask him to give it a quick check over.
Guest Terry S
Right it won't be surge on WOT. It's probably the pressure going back through the turbo but a BOV will only help if it happens when you lift off. Ask Leon if he can check your wastegate.
