SupraRider
Hi people, Can I ask everybody what they think of these wheels to fit onto a SILVER supra? These are 8.5 x 19" all round.
AndyT
Not a good idea to have the same width front and back bud. Go 8.5 front 9.5 rear. Wheels look nice btw.
jim_supra
I really like those wheels, have been toying with the idea of getting a set for mine for a while now, 18's though, in gunmetal with a staggered fitment.
SupraRider
Thanks. I'll take that advice on board. I'm not an expert on wheels but why can't it be the same width front and back? does that pose a problem?
colsoop
There staggered because the rear tyres are larger and to accomodate the tyres safely you need a wider rim.
AndyT
8.5 just isn't enough for the rears. Handling will be.. err.. affected I'd also go for max 18's. Two reasons, handling again, depending on if you want to drive the car in a spirited fashion. Ride comfort is also badly affected because the tyre wall is smaller = harsher ride and more stress. Tyre choice and expense. Loads more available for the 18's and cheaper obviously. Actually that's quite a few reasons....
RED_ROCKET
thought the supra came with same width all round as standard. we have those on our orange supra i think they look nice but then i would:D

IIRC its either 8.5 front 9.5 rear or 8 front 9.5 rear. Its either 1" or 1.5" difference anyway.
renegade
i looked at these wheels.but just not the style i was after
Mike
thought the supra came with same width all round as standard. Just NA's I think... mine are 8.5 all round. It needs wider ones at the back to fill the arch really
RED_ROCKET
ah right i stand dejected i well tracie has 8.5 on the front and im sure we got the wrong rears at 10 but managed to squeeze 255/40/18 on them i could be wrong but im sure thats what cw said

Just the rears should be wider. 255 on a 10" rim. 255 on a 8.5" rim You need 235 on the 8.5 and I'm running 265 on the 9.5 on back. These sizes are the recommended sizes. I would say 275 would be more appropriate for the 10" bud. The fact you have 255 all round means about the same as having the same size wheels all round I'm afraid. RED_ROCKET
not made myself clear sorry we have 8.5 wheel with a 235/35/18 fronts and rears 255/40/18 on 10 wheels i thought that 255 was a bit narrow for that width of wheel but was advise to keep them as narrow as possible for better handling ? The reason for that is so that you can keep the profile of 40. The handling will be near stock but the tyre will be really really stretched at those sizes. I would advise going for 265 x 35's the next time. The difference will be minimal.

Phew. Hoped that's what you meant. It's true the narrower tyre will be better in the wet. Less width = more pressure on the road etc. This now gets really complicated and I think it's been covered by experts here too. Personally though, I go for the tyres that fit the wheels properly. Gives the tyres the proper support to function at their best. Just my opinion though.

So they get more than there fair share of salt etc, and mine are, only just starting to show a couple of small chips in the paint, they are not lacquered on the polished section and IMO are pretty good quality alloy, and provided they are polished on a regular basis they are fine, I'll take and put up some recent pics. I have had Ray's wheels and they have not been so resilient as these.

SupraRider
Hey guys, Thanks for all the expert advice and comments. I like the Ruff wheels but I'm just not sure if that suits a SILVER supra. IMO, I thought going for a set of 5 spoke black wheels with silver dish and studs all round look better on a silver supe. rota gtr looks quite messy and it doesn't give a clean look. decisions decisions... renegade
here is pics of the wheels i looked at in gunmetel and sliver but i have just went for set of rota gtr but not sure how it will look on a white supra
