What do you use to push brake pistons back?

Caliper spreader tool thing out of machine mart. Best tenner I ever spent. Before I had that I used a big Screwdriver and prised them back but The proper tool for the job makes life a lot easier. The cube your talking about is for wind back calipers, I dont thing supra calipers wind in, I'm not sure but I think they just slide in so a normal caliper spreader should do the trick.

as it has top hap brakes u properly just push the piston back in!

so nu push and turn?

I had to do this lately with an audi 80, turn and push is very :taped:

for jspec and uk brakes its just pushing back the pistons and thats it?

I have to do the same job these days with the uk brakes,

dba4000 with hawk hp+pads and goodridge brake lines,

think it will go even easier with the brake lines removed...

caliper wind back tools are mainly used for the rear calipers as most moddern cars and some older cars have wind back calipers. you can do it without it but you have to twist and push at the same time, takes forever. they were never on supra front brakes though.

Yeah I had them on the rear calipers of my prelude and I never had the correct tool, had to sit for ages with a screwdriver twisting them in. But as you say you don't need it for the supra, front or rear.

g clamp worked a treat however ...................

i cant get the two bolts undone that hold the caliper bracket on. ggrrrrrr these things are never easy,

gonna try and use my mates impact drive wrench tomorrow so calipers and pads back on for now,

They are really scored on the inner pads and even after 3 months of use, do you think its worth getting new pads again to put on with the new discs?

Ideally you'd change the pads too. Or sand them back a bit with emery cloth if they're really new and expensive.

Patience and strength, try to use two spanners ended over each other, "ring over open" to give better length and leverage. ;)

only had a small ratchet set so going to try my mates impact drive tonight, they are quite rusty so got my plus gas on them, going to try and get a socket bit for my torque wrench as well as that ill give plenty of leverage just in case the impact drive doesnt work

Si can you update this thread once you have your mintex pads on and bedded in as I'd like to know what you think of them, I've heard some good things about them but no-one ever mentions them on here.
